Review: Brother’s Keeper by Nan Comargue

Alexa believed Nik is her half-brother until she visits California for Russian Orthodox Christmas and learns the truth. Then their relationship becomes wild, hot—and very unorthodox.

Nik’s devil-may-care attitude drives Alexa crazy, but because he’s her younger half-brother, she has to see him every Russian Orthodox Christmas—even after he kissed her two years ago and made her feel things that just couldn’t ever be. This year, the holiday starts with Alexa finding out Nik’s not related to her at all, a fact her family has kept from her for decades.

The revelation sends Alexa into a tailspin, and the person who offers her comfort is the last one she expects—Nik. After waking up to find Nik in her bed the next day, that comfort turns into unexpectedly hot sex, which only complicates the burgeoning feelings she has for him.

The last thing Alexa wants is to disrupt her life with a man she can’t trust—a man she already knows she cares for far too deeply. But easygoing Nik proves to be much more determined than she’d ever imagined when their fragile, new love is on the line

Brother’s Keeper is the newest novella in Totally Bound’s Sexy Snax snapshot.  I love these quick and spicy reads and this one fit the bill nicely!

Nik and Alexa were raised as stepbrother and stepsister.  There’s always been an attraction between the two, so Alexa stayed away from him.  No sense in giving into something that’s just so wrong.  This year at their family holiday get-together, Alexa learns the truth. Nik is not related to her in any way.  Alexa is devastated.  Being lied to for so many years makes her insecurities grow wings!  She’s never felt like she had a place in her family and this huge secret made her feel awful.  The one she least expects to come to comfort her is Nik.

After waking and finding Nik in her bed, his “comforting” takes on a new role as feelings buried away surface. Talk about spiciness!! Hot sex is served up with a side helping of complications! What do we do now??

The journey these two endure is such a rollercoaster! If there ever was two people that needed to open their mouths and talk, it was them!  I liked the book but just so much mistrust and assumptions were making it harder and harder to watch them implode! I wanted to smack them upside the head and say “talk”! I was glad they finally came to their senses and I got the ending I was hoping for!
