Review: Crazed (Blood Money #3) by Edie Harris

Casey Faraday was a soldier before he was a spy, but family always came first, no matter what.

When a member of the Faraday clan is snatched off the streets and dragged halfway across the world, it’s Casey who follows the kidnappers’ trail to South America. Thrust into the heart of the cartel he barely escaped during an undercover assignment four years earlier, he’s unprepared for the shock awaiting him on Colombian soil.

Ilda Almeida—the only woman to ever tempt Casey into madness, the beautiful wife he’d mourned for years—is very much alive. And keeping a secret that will forever change life as he knows it.

Casey can’t control his hands—or his heart—around Ilda, but neither can he abandon his rescue mission. When cartel violence turns the jungle into a bloodbath, he can only protect one family: his.

Casey is working undercover in a Columbia cartel when he meets the woman of his dreams. A brief romance, a quick marriage and he is ready to take his new bride back home. Only in a church fire she is killed. Flash forward 4 years, Casey’s younger brother is kidnapped. All intel points to the same cartel, so he heads back to Columbia where his beloved wife is not dead. And she has secrets that will change his whole world.

Now that was one exciting read! Twist, turns, secrets and a scary cartel leader keep Crazed running on high adrenaline. Casey and Ilda were real great characters. I had a twingey moment about thinking they had too insta of a love connection. Except once you factor in how crazy mad in love they were, guess you can’t blame them for getting it on so quickly. The secondary characters played a major factor instead of just background fluff. Who was good, who was bad, honestly Ms. Harris had me trying to figure it out the whole way through, especially Pipe. Him I had a teeny soft spot for until… *Backs away slowly with hands raised* That I didn’t see coming. I’d say it all ends on an epic ending except I can’t help but think the epic ending was triple-fold. What does that mean you say? You’ll have to read to find out although I will say this. There is a HEA, there is a cliffy, and there is a next book. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

A note regarding the secondary characters. Once again, I’m jumping into a series without reading the previous titles. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. If I stick to Casey and Ilda’s story, I was just fine. However, I just couldn’t keep the other Faraday’s that already had their stories straight in my head. It took me a while, and a peek at the previous blurbs, to figure out Tobias and Chandler were a couple, but I couldn’t absorb Beth and Vick. There’s also a underlying story regarding a mole in the mix. If I disregarded all these previous players, I was just fine. Even seeing that there was going to be a story regarding Adam, I was cool with. Adding everybody else into the mix without reading the previous books, let’s just say read then so you have a better understanding than I did.

For my first book by author Edie Harris, Crazed was fairly good. She has a good combination of danger, intrigue and characters that keeps everything moving along at a rapid pace. Outside of not reading previous books in the Blood Money series, I would recommend reading Crazed.
