Review – Dragons Against Them (Kingdoms of Fire and Ice #2) by Kyra Jacobs

Blood is thicker than water…but can it melt a heart of ice?

Adelaide Miller gave up everything she knows to remain in Prince Zayne Godfrey’s alternate reality and assume her rightful place as eldest princess in the rival kingdom of Forath.

For an independent, free-spirited woman, however, royal life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it’s downright smothering. Especially since the vengeful Rosalind has gone AWOL.

Zayne is eager to wed Princess Addie—but their fathers seem more intent on keeping them apart. The longer Rosalind goes missing, the more suspicious each monarch becomes that the other is guilty of foul play.

But both kingdoms may soon face a strong, new rival intent on gaining power foretold by an ancient prophecy. To protect their chance at happily ever after, Zayne and Addie must partner with unlikely allies to save the one person intent on destroying them both.

But victory will not come without a price, and in the end, someone may have to pay—in blood.

If you haven’t read the first installment, stop what you’re doing and go READ IT…NOW!!!

Are you kidding me right now? Seriously? I’m in shock! I absolutely NEVER saw that coming…NEVER!!! Wow, just wow. I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything…let’s start from the beginning…

Addie has returned from her realm and has committed to a future with her betrothed, Zayne, Prince of Edana. But until the wedding, she is basically stuck inside her father’s castle “for protection”, considering her half-sister, Rosalind has gone missing. Adjusting to the the new world is taking it’s toll on Addie and the only thing keeping her grounded is sneaking around, whenever possible, to have even the shortest time alone with Zayne. One of the “duties” bestowed on Addie was to learn about her families history and legends. But when she stumbles upon a portion of a prophecy, her thoughts immediately turn to finding the rest in order to understand more.

Zayne is still trying to juggle his angry father and his betrothed Addie. After all, she keeps him on his toes. But when she asks Zayne about the prophecy, he has no choice but to “come clean” about his family lineage. It’s then that they both realize that this prophecy might be about them. But events start to unfold that they can’t control and we’re taken on quite the journey. Where there was only thought to be two kingdoms, we’re introduced to another.

Now…I really need to stop there because I’m pretty sure I’ll end up giving something away if I continue to give you more background. It’s just something that you’ll have to read to find out for yourself. Don’t worry. You won’t be disappointed. In fact, I’m pretty sure you’ll be just as shocked as I still am when the truth is revealed. Yep, you heard me. This is a crazy awesome story and one that I’m sure isn’t over. After all…we haven’t really gotten to the last part of that prophecy…

P.s. – I love the tag line “Blood is thicker than water…but can it melt a heart of ice?” – SOOOO much meaning
