Title: Hard Compromise
Laurie Peterson assumes her impulsive one-night stand with sinfully sexy Sheriff Ethan Booker is the biggest surprise of the year…until her bakery burns down while she’s basking in the afterglow. It looks like her dreams are up in smoke, but then Ethan proposes a deal too tempting to resist.
Ethan has no intention of settling for a one-night stand with Laurie. Nor does he want anything to do with the women his wealthy family wants him to meet. Not when he’s waited ten years for his chance to make his move. His deal might have strings—and Laurie may not know the stakes—but nothing will stop this sexy cop from staking a real claim on her body and her heart.

Ethan Booker has waited ten long years for the chance to be with Laura Peterson. He was first interested in her when she was busted for underage drinking by him. She’s sure he’s taking her in so she tries to seduce him thinking things couldn’t get much worse. He turns her down and gives her a warning instead-he’s going to be watching her and if she so much falls out of line, he’ll be there and they will revisit this situation in ten years. He then takes her home.
Fast forward ten years later. Ethan has bided his time and he knows what he wants-it’s Laurie. They come from different backgrounds-he the wealthy side and she the bad side of the tracks. Ethan doesn’t care. When he comes after her, she wants him just as bad. She doesn’t feel her pedigree is good enough for him though. Ethan isn’t giving up. One night with her would never be enough. He has to come up with a plan. One that she would be hard-pressed not to take. And one that doesn’t look like charity.
Laurie thought her New Year was going fabulously until her estranged mother lands on her doorstop demanding money. Then to make matters worse, after she gives her some money from her bakery business safe, her entire bakery burns to the ground! Clients come out of the woodwork demanding deposits for cakes she no longer can bake-deposits she no longer has-thanks to mommy dearest. What will she do?? Ethan rides in with an offer she can’t refuse. She acts like they are dating so he doesn’t have to be under his mother’s match making scrutiny, in exchange for the money she needs for those clients’ deposits. Although its temporary, Ethan has hopes of making the arrangement permanent.
What a nice, romantic story! Ethan was just so sweet and genuine. You couldn’t help but like him. The lengths he went to make Laurie his and to feel safe and protected was admirable! He was hot and definitely in control. That was what Laurie needed. She had been a wild child with barely any supervision while growing up. She watched her mom go from guy to guy-it was all she ever knew. She didn’t know what to do when Ethan dropped into her picture. She knew she wanted him, but that would only cause her more hard ache when he left, so she does a two-step. Gives into being with him, then running away. I got her, though. She mirrored her mother more than she liked, but she also was extremely hard working and definitely dedicated to making something of herself. It took Ethan to make her realize she is worth it for him. He did a good job of being patient with her. He wants to help her, but knew she needed to do it on her own.
I liked the journey these two take! Their chemistry is smoking hot and since they have waited so long they are scorching the sheets when it finally goes down! Samanthe Beck is always a good one for sizzling sex scenes and this was a good mix.
Hard Compromise is book two in the Compromise Me series and it’s a solid book! I wholeheartedly recommend this as well as book one Compromising Her Position!
