Review: Night Forbidden (The Heroes of New Vegas Book 5) by Colleen Gleason

Bruno "Fence" Washington survived the apocalypse - emerging from a Sedona cave into a strange and terrible new world... 50 years later. Now, scouring for answers about the malevolent Strangers, the former extreme sportsman encounters a woman who calls to his every desire.

Try as she might, Ana can't resist the man who tempts her in ways she never knew possible... whose touch elicits truths she swore never to reveal. But as they face a new evil rising up from the rolling ocean, it could mean blanketing the world in unending night - and his end.

This fifth entry in The Heroes of New Vegas, Night Forbidden is loaded with excitement, adventure and revealing moments.

For a brief second there I thought the author was going to play Ana off as a mermaid! Nope, she’s half human and the other half… Yeah not spoiling it. Needless to say, it made for a interesting twist to the story. Especially when you factor in Fence. To be quite honest, in the past titles in the series I gave little, if any, attention to his character. He was just a MEH filler character in the story to me. I take back everything I had to say about him. He’s funny, witty and deserves more than a MEH from me. Him and Ana made a great match, and the dynamics between them made for good reading.

Each one of the men who came out of the Sedona cave fifty years later now have a a strange new ability. It’s pretty much spelled out in the blurb. What isn’t mentioned, is how much of a wicked sense of humor the author  has because the best word I can use to describe his abilities is IRONIC! I’m not going into details of Fence’s, however I will say this – Ms. Gleason, you are so bad! LOL!!!

I can see this series coming to an end very quickly and for that I will be very sad. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book. As each survivor finds a reason to go on, discovering their abilities, and the next piece of the puzzle falls into place. I feel an epic ending is in store for all. If more apocalyptic series were written like The Heroes of New Vegas I might find myself switching preferred genres. This is a must read series!

Note: The Heroes of New Vegas was formerly written as Joss Ware, and known as The Envy Chronicles which is where I first read this book.
