What a spicy, quick read!! I love Samantha Towle and her style of writing! When I read the blurb on this one, I knew I had to read it! It is co-written with James Patterson and you could see his input. The styles mesh and I loved their finish product!
Melissa, Mel, is the assistant state attorney living in Miami. She’s biding her time till she can be the next state attorney by working over and above what’s expected of her. When the biggest case of her career lands in her lap, she tackles it with gusto. NFL quarterback of the Miami Dolphins, Grayson Knight, has just been arrested for drug possession. Mel’s boss wants to make an example of the star QB so he wants Mel to “throw the book at him”!
When these two meet, sparks fly-no leap, from the pages! Talk about a connection! Whew! Then after talking about the events that took place and the charges, Mel’s intuition is telling her Grayson is not being truthful with her. With his money and star status, she questions why he would lie when he has so much to lose. She is bound and determined to get to the bottom of it.
As Mel works the story and questions Grayson further, their attraction to each other becomes unable to resist. She can’t seem to stay away and he definitely doesn’t want her to. She is torn because she wants him but it is unethical because of her job. She finds herself at a crossroads when her need to defend his innocence becomes paramount.
This was a sexy, sizzling read! They literally could not get enough of each other-like their next breath depended on it! It was so well written it was believable! Since this is a short story, things happen quickly but I didn’t feel rushed to believe what was happening between them! Love at first sight! I have to say I finished it nearly in one sitting because I didn’t want to put it down! The story was intriguing and the spiciness was the icing on the cake! Very enjoyable!
