Review: There You Stand (Between Breaths #5) by Christina Lee

From the author of All of You and Before You Break comes a new Between Breaths male/male romance about the silent, inked up skateboarder and the tattoo artist who unravels him piece by piece…

Tattoo artist Cory Easton has worked long enough at Raw Ink to know, just by looking at a dude, what his body art reveals, what makes him tick, what even makes him scared. Until he meets the quiet and remote Jude York—so unreadable, so unreachable, and so unlike anyone else, he can’t help but arouse Cory’s curiosity.

As captivating and complex as his ink, Jude is a mystery—and Cory’s falling fast and hard under his spell. Against his better judgment to steer clear.

The rumors of Jude’s past overshadow him—whispers of prison and an unmentionable secret that’s kept him in the protective shadows of a local motorcycle club. As Cory probes deeper, he wonders how much he really wants to know. Especially since Jude has awakened something inside him that has been buried too long—and has him feeling completely alive for the first time in forever…

I’ve never read author Christina Lee but I liked the blurb to There You Stand. Tattoo artist, skateboarding, a little M/M romance, MC and that oh so cute cover with a hint of a smirk. So many carrots were dangled in front of my face I just couldn’t resist.

Let me start with I’m not going into Jude’s secret because frankly that would ruin the book. Instead let me say it’s a juicy one and Cory’s ability to help Jude trust him enough to share it was fairly amazing. I really appreciate that while there is sadness and pain to their story it was of the manageable level and not of the gut wrenching angst type. Sometimes you want a book to let you experience emotions without tearing up a box of tissues and thankfully, There You Stand had the right amount. It also had the right amount of character and plot development. I never felt over-whelmed or there was too much information. Everything was just the right amount. Once Jude’s secret is revealed I pretty much figure out how the story was going to end. End yes but not how it was going to get there. I liked all the little twists that popped up along the way. Frankly, There You Stand was a really easy book to get lost in.

On top of everything else there’s a nice little mysterious plot regarding the MC club that Cory frequents as well as of where Jude tends to pop up. Their part in the story wasn’t what I expected but certainly was a nice addition. Actually all the extra characters were pretty entertaining. And that’s right around the time I started to pay attention and realize this is a series. REALLY! I couldn’t tell. This book worked out to completely by itself I never would have guess it was part of a series. I’ve gone back and checked the blurbs to the previous books and what do you know…series material. Oh I love a good series. Since this is my first book by Christina Lee I think it’s time to discover what I have missed. You should too! Go, get her books. NOW!
