Bridling His Vampire by Suz deMello

Publisher’s Note: This book was previously published elsewhere as Angel Laird, Vampire Wife.

Scotland, 1766. Edgar, Laird MacReiver, has never regretted his decision to wed Isobel, daughter of Clan Kilburn’s laird, until she bites his tongue and drinks his blood. He means to bridle the wild child of the infamous vampire clan by any means necessary, whether that means tying her hands, spanking her luscious bottom or making her come.

But he worries that some women are just too dangerous to tame.

This fast paced read brings us a story of Isobel and Edgar, betrothed almost since Isobel’s birth; the two have reached a point in their relationship where Isobel’s nature, with her vampire blood have caused Edgar some concerns.

Isobel is a tomboy, and off to Edinburg for her season before her wedding. Thinking that Edgar has turned off the idea of their marriage, only his appearance and jealous fit over her flirtatious companion assuage her concerns.

This is a quick and fast story that makes more sense if you have read DeMello’s Highland Vampire series, as many of the characters recur.  There is some limited foreplay and a touch of bitey from Isobel, but the simple story is a good check in to those familiar with the other books.  A touch too much of the cannae and didnae for my taste, but for a short it was developed and drawn with the detail I would expect.
