Review: Intermezzo by Delphine Dryden

A disappointed ballerina, a brooding composer, and a few days in Paris that may change their lives forever...

Is it the sparkle of lamplight on a rain-drenched Parisian street? The thrill of a clandestine clinch in a foreign hotel? Maybe it's the universal urge to go back and relive that one crucial moment--to try again, knowing what you didn't know back then.

Whatever it is, it's ridiculously hot. Just like it was that first time, so many years ago. Only this time, Lily and Aidan aren't sure they're willing to walk away from each other when the night is over

Intermezzo by Delphine Dryden is a romantically erotic story of love lost yet not forgotten.  Lily, aspiring ballerina met Aidan at a theatrical camp where a lustful one-night stand occurred between the two. Both captivated with their feelings yet knowing that artistic circumstances would keep them apart, they decided that one night could never become more. Seven years later the two meet again and their worlds collide allowing for their one-night stand to become more if they  decide to take the plunge.

Ms. Dreyden delivers passion and desire as Lily and Aidan traverse their feelings for each other and leap into unknown territory. The passion shared is steamy and sexy as they heat the sheets, fully knowing that past circumstances may again be in the forefront.

Ms. Dreyden allowed the characters to explore their emotional connection as well as their sexual one, something rarely done in a short story. As a reader, I connected with the angst which emanated from Lily as she wished more from life than meaningless sex, but desired a substantial and worthy relationship. Intermezzo hits the mark in deliverance; beautiful, sexy characters and a well-written story line.
