Review: Magical Kiss by Virginia Cavanaugh

Being a carnal magic user doesn’t make Breeze Hawthorne “easy”. In fact, she’s tired of the nasty names her kind tends to get labeled with. So when she finds herself paired with sexy water user Chehon McFlint, she’s determined to keep things professional, no matter how bad her body burns for him.
A horrid beast is about to break loose from an underwater prison and Breeze is running low on juice. When she fails to get hold of her usual service partner, she’s faced with a decision that could cost her emotionally. Chehon seems ready, willing and able to handle the job of recharging her, but Breeze isn’t so sure he’ll leave her heart intact when the job is over.

Magical Kiss by Virginia Cavanaugh was a quickly paced short erotic story. Breeze is a carnal magic user and requires sex to keep her powers fueled. Chehon is a warlock that draws his power from water. They both work for the Magical and Mystic Security and are paired together to keep captured a magical at the bottom of the sea. Breeze has always lusted for Chehon, but never acted on her feelings as she always surmised a meaningful relationship was out of her reach.

For a short story, the buildup of passion and sex was slow and meaningful, thus giving substance to the tale. Ms. Cavanaugh portrays the characters as sensual creatures who desire love and affection. Magical Kiss is told from Breeze’s perspective and gives incite to her reasoning for alluding relationships. Lucky for her Chehon foils the plans.

The sex scenes are provocative and warm the loins. I would love to see more to the story as Ms. Cavanaugh left me wanting for more and has peaked my interest.
