Review: Accidentally on Purpose (Heartbreaker Bay #3) by Jill Shalvis

There’s no such thing as a little in love…

Elle Wheaten’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .

There’s no such thing as a little in lust…

Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. But now that she’s earned happiness and success, Archer just wants Elle 24/7. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco Earthquake, and Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .

There is such a thing as…

As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along…

I. Adore. This. Series.

Jill Shalvis gets better with each book she puts out, and this is by far her best yet. While it is a standalone novel, you can really amp up the sexual tension between Archer and Elle if you read the first two (there’s a novella, but they don’t feature much in that one).

Elle is a self-reliant, self-sufficient, self-starter kind of woman. She’s unflappable, cool under pressure, and is a vault when it comes to secrets. So it’s no surprise that she won’t allow herself to lose her mind over Archer, who’s the good-guy-in-a-bad-boy’s-body.

Archer is sexy as sin, and his eyes are always on Elle. He’s been in lust with her for years, but he understands her need for independence, so he stays in the background (well, as much as he can, given his super alpha personality).

When these two get together, the heat comes off the page in waves. The chemistry is amazing, the backstory of each character is simply fantastic and three-dimensional, and the banter is witty, funny, and heartbreaking.

This has landed in my top 10 books of 2016 for sure. Do yourself a favor – order all four books, pre-order the next one, and get ready for a week of happy sighs, heart wrenching moments, and a strong, unbreakable, fictional friendship that hasn’t been seen since 90s television.

Five very enthusiastic stars.
