Title: Amorous Beat
Simone plays the drums like an angel, but at six feet tall she’s never met a man who makes her feel delicate or feminine. So when she’s called in to play in a friend’s band at the last minute and meets Steve, a bandmate’s brother who towers over her, she’s smitten.
Soon the two are burning up the sheets, but with some of the band members questioning her motives and others playing games of their own, the chance of Simone and Steve achieving harmony seems like a long shot.

Typically, I enjoy books that involve music of some kind – and this one, I enjoyed. But it took a little while for Amorous Beat to really jive for me. I think, realistically, that it was the fact that Simone was a drummer. Not unheard of, and nothing wrong with female percussionists, but I just can’t see Simone as a sexy, badass drummer. Just… can’t.
That being said, once I moved beyond the drummer thing, the story picked up. And boy, did it really pick up. Simone is tall and beautiful. But she’s never been able to find a man she’s really liked that’s taller than she is. When she’s called in at the last minute to play for a friend’s wedding, however, she meets her match in Steve. Steve is gorgeous. He’s tall and oh so sexy. It doesn’t take long for their electric sexual chemistry to ignite, and the two of them hit the sheets hard and heavy. Their friends all suspect that the two of them are just enjoying a casual thing – and that there is no future there. Will Simone and Steve realize they have a deeper relationship than just incredibly hot sex? Or will they fizzle out and be stuck back at square one.
Simone and Steve are hot. Their sex is hot. Their conversations are hot. Their chemistry is incredible. I loved their romance. It was quick, intense and steamy. Sheryl Zaines created a fantastic little romp within these pages that should please anyone who loves a fast, electric hook-up that becomes something much more. It was my first book by Ms. Zaines, but hopefully, after reading this, it won’t be my last.
