Review: An Indecent Proposal (The O’Malleys #3) by Katee Robert

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert continues her smoking-hot series about the O'Malleys-wealthy, powerful, and full of scandalous family secrets.

Greed. Ambition. Violence. Those are the "values" Olivia Rashidi learned from her Russian mob family-and the values she must leave behind for the sake of her daughter. When she meets Cillian O'Malley, she recognizes the red flag of his family name . . . yet she still can't stop herself from seeing the smoldering, tortured man. To save her family, Olivia sets out to discover Cillian's own secrets, but the real revelation is how fast-and how hard-she's falling for him.

Plagued by a violent past, Cillian is more vulnerable than anyone realizes. Anyone except Olivia, whose beauty, compassion, and pride have him at "hello," even if she's more inclined to say good-bye to an O'Malley. While his proposal of sex with no strings seems simple, what he feels for her isn't, especially after he learns that she belongs to a rival crime family. Cillian knows that there is no escape from the life, but Olivia may be worth trying-and dying-for . . .

Can a member of a prestigious  mob family, even as estranged as she was, ever escape the life? Olivia Rashidi is coming to terms that despite her leaving and telling her half-brother to shove family loyalty, she can’t escape the mob ties. No one understands this better than Cillian O’Malley, middle son of a neighboring mob family. She does her best to reject and ignore Cillian’s charms but she’s only human. Spending a reckless encounter together puts them on a path that neither will recover from, nor do they want too.

As book three in the series, it would seem (without knowing the backstory) a reader can feel totally lost about certain events that had taken place. And at times it felt like it, like when they talked about Devlin’s death. Most of it was explained but it took a few chapters to get into. Although this can be read as a standalone, reading the beginning of the series might round out the story and dynamics of the O’Malley siblings. Something I plan on doing, especially because I need to know what happened to next sibling in the family-Sloan!

An Indecent Proposal brings you suspense, drama, betrayal, heated romance, and a closer look into the mob world. I have read a few books of Miss Robert but mostly the ones in other series such as Serve and Wedding Dare that she did with other authors. I like her writing style and now that I have got a taste of what she’s capable of, I am kicking myself for not reading more of her work before now. This book blends her natural talent of writing suspense with great sexual tension. I never thought an alley could be such a hot place for the kind of heat Cillian and Olivia share.

Everyone loves an Irish man and this little lady is no different. I think I would not be able to resist Cillian’s charms either, I mean have you seen the cover!! Phew! The characters for the most part were pretty intense and you want to delve deeper into. Each O’Malley sibling is living their own personal misery, except two thanks to their significant other (even if one was cut off from the family, and all you want to do is make it better. This book’s events connect somewhat to what happened in the previous one, which is explained, and continues the plot for the next one! I am excited I was gifted a chance to read Miss Robert and now can consider myself a fan!

I was gifted a copy of this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.
