Review: Angel Falls (Cassandra Bick Chronicles #3) by Tracey Sinclair

It isn't easy to surprise Cassandra Bick. When you run a human-vampire dating agency, your colleague is a witch who is engaged to a shifter and your business partner is one of London's most powerful (and sexiest) vampires, there's no such thing as a normal day at the office.

But when a mysterious Dark Dates client brings a dire warning of a new threat to the city's supernatural community, Cass and her friends realise they are up against their deadliest foe yet – and that this time, the danger is far closer to home than they could ever have imagined.

Sexy, snarky and with more bite than a crypt full of vampires, Angel Falls is the latest in the Dark Dates: Cassandra Bick series.

Angel Falls is the book that started me on my Cassandra Bick Chronicles addiction. I didn’t read it first (Thank God!) but it’s the one that caught my attention. Vampire dating service. London. Dire warnings. A series…why yes please I would like to read it. From the beginning? Of course, let hope I like it. And then I loved it and couldn’t slow down reading the series. So now I have the latest book in hand and devoured it. Holy crackers! I didn’t think things could get any better or crazier than it has already been. I was wrong, so wrong.

Everybody is back and Cassandra is trying to get her business going…again. Of course, things just can’t go smoothly. Cain is trying to recover from the previous battle, Laclos is on the loose hopped up on Cain’s blood, Medea and Katie are having issues, and poor Cassandra – her home is in constant ruins. Doesn’t anybody know how to knock! There’s new players in town and bad things are happening but the gang is handling it in their usual style. Still plenty of zingers getting thrown out (“So do you want to drive Miss Daisy or shall I?) to keep my laughing but this book has a darker, sinister edge to it. The stakes (no vamp joke intended) are higher and the excitement is explosive. And what would a Cassandra ending be without an epic battle? Oh yes, there is one more than one in fact. I couldn’t figure out how it was going to go. Would he survive? Who is going to win? And then WHAM! It was outstanding! But then I got to the very end of the book…

Up until now, I’ve had all Cassandra Bick Chronicles in hand and didn’t stress too much about their endings. A little cliffy between books is no biggie when you can just immediately start the next title. And that is exactly what each of the previous books had: a little cliffy. However, Angel Falls does not have a little cliffy, it has a BIG ONE! Cain! Oh no! I’m sobbing here desperate to find out about Cain. Laclos what? WHAT! Medea and Katie and the wedding! Cassandra, how are you going to handle all that? The bigger question is how will I survive the wait until the next book comes out?
