Review: Angel Lover (Angel Assassins #2)  by Tricia Skinner

There’s no danger greater than falling for your enemy…

The Nephilim are bound. Their powers cursed. But half-angel Kasdeja will do anything to free them from Heaven's tyranny. When Kas is approached by a striking, mysterious woman, she tells him his greatest enemies hold the key to his freedom.

Mariel keeps herself shrouded in secrets, using them to hide her true self. For she is not just employed by the Renegades--enemy fallen angels—she is a double agent, working on the sly for Heaven. Her directive is to seduce the gorgeous Nephilim—despite her insecurity about such sensual acts.

For Mariel is playing a dangerous game, and falling for Kas could only cause trouble; her assignment isn't just seduction. It's destruction.

Angel Lover is one action packed adventure. It certainly was not what I expected. Frankly it was way better than I anticipated. The energy level I am buzzing on after finishing this book is through the roof.

Wow, just, wow! If I was to use one word to describe Mariel and Kas story it would be unpredictable. So many twists and secrets here. There’s so much to both of them, their background stories, how got to where they are now, that I felt I really was able to get to know them very well. Mariel is strong, fierce, and her story is heart-wrenching and shocking once everything is revealed. Kas is equally strong and as sad as his story is Mariel definitely comes out the unfortunate winner here. I really got into the to trust or not to trust dance they did around each other. And as hot as the sex was between them, I’m glad everything wasn’t all lust driven. These are two warriors, to make them into smut bunnies would have ruined the story.

There’s lots of secondary characters that have peaked my interest, (Jarrid Cain, Tanis to name a few) I’m ready to find out more about. I missed out of the first books in the series so I’m walking in blind regarding the battle between the Renegades and Heaven. Easy enough to think it’s about good angels and demons but this isn’t the case here. It certainly provided a interesting twist to what has become to me standard angel stories. Right around the time I felt I had everyone and everything just figured out, who’s good, who’s bad, and what I expect to happen next, Curveball! I love when that happens. The only thing I predicted right was that Mariel and Kas would end up together. That and there had to be a epic battle which there always is one when good and evil clash. But that’s okay because it offered up the right amount of violence this bloodthirsty reader likes. Now Mariel and Kas do get their HEA however, I get the feeling this series doesn’t end here because, TA-DAH! there’s a cliffhanger. Not one that is going to drive me bonkers but enough that I am ready to find out what happens next to {BEEP}. Oh sorry, not telling. You’ll have to read to find out for yourself.

This is my very first book by Tricia Skinner and let me say it now, I AM HOOKED! The only problem is I am starting at book 2 instead of book 1. I keep jumping into these great series in the middle instead of at the beginning. I really need to change that pattern up because I missing that introduction every series seems to have. But that’s not a problem since I want, no NEED, to read Angel Assassins series. Lovers of Angels stories that aren’t of the fluffy white harp playing variety are going to love this series. Get it now!
