FINALLY! A historical I can sink my teeth into!

Obviously, I am not one for historical romances as it holds little heat for me to really enjoy. Normally i get bored and end up skimming. However, fairytale retelling has always been a must have for me (whether it’s good or bad). So when Beauty and the Highland Beast was offered I knew I had to have it and it absolutely did not disappoint!

Alasdair Og Sinclair was once the brave, handsome, charming, and mischievous son of Chief Padraig Sinclair. Terrible circumstances arose and he is left as half a man, broken, soul battered, and haunted; in short mad. Padraig is on his last leg of hope when a “prophecy” is uttered, he must find a Virgin to come heal his son. He knows that the Cheif MacLeod has many daughters. In stumbles Fia, literally.

Fia has been ignored most of her life and just wants to have some adventure. When Padraig offers a chance for her to leave her home and try to heal his son she agrees. Her life drastically changes when she first meets Alasdair, or Dair. At first she’s reluctant to try but as time goes on she sees behind the madness to a man she could love deeply.

This novel was perfect in almost every way. It is not exactly like the Beauty and the Beast fairytale but it is damn near close. It has an amazing twist of just the right amount of mystery, tragedy, fairytale, romance, “witchcraft” and heroic deeds. This novel had multiple character point of view that only added to the book when it could have easily taken away. I cannot wait for more of this series by Lecia Cornwall!

I was gifted this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review. the opinions and ratings are so let my own.
