Review: Black Moon Rising by Melody Lane

Steve enjoys his day job as a shapeshifting bounty hunter—but his personal life is a mess. Nightmares of his father’s death and fantasies of a lost love torment him each night. Until he responds to a bail bondsman’s request to pick up a bail jumper and gets the shock of his life—the presumed murderer is Herman, his long-lost love.

Muscular firefighter Herman never expected to see the man he shared unbelievably hot chemistry with ever again. After all, he’d ditched their relationship and his lifestyle for a chance to reconcile with his estranged father. Could Steve possibly forgive that?

When the Merlotti crime family—all vicious, remorseless werewolves—get a sniff of Herman, the situation becomes desperate. What do they know about Lawrence Fleming’s death, and can Steve save the only man he’s ever loved before it’s too late?

A Romantica® GBLT male/male paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave.

The first book in the City Shifters series is an intriguing m/m shifter romance.

A shapeshifting bounty hunter, Steve gets the shock of his life with the fugitive he’s after is Herman – his long lost love.  Herman is a muscular fireman who left Steve when he got the chance to reconcile with his father, but now he needs his help because he’s being framed for the murder of his father.

This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats with action, suspense and romance.  The author brings the story to life with well written worlds, vivid descriptions and strong compelling characters that grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.  The author keeps things interesting with unusual shifters that readers don’t see much of and she adds in some black moon magic just spice it up some more.

The attraction between Herman and Steve is undeniably hot with frequent scorching sex scenes that have heat blazing from the pages.  The relationship is hindered however by the past and by a vicious werewolf crime boss, but these two are meant for each other and will have to find a way to uncomplicated their life to achieve their happily ever after.  The author conveys the emotions, passions and personalities of the characters with vibrant intensity that ensures that the reader gets caught up in their stories.

This refreshingly different take on the shifters in the city makes for an enjoyable and entertaining quick read. Add in a sexy shifter and a sexy firefighter and what’s not to like? And I can’t wait to read Eric’s story and where the author takes the series next.Black Moon Rising
