Review: Blood Is Thicker… by Suz deMello

A century-old vampire, Rama is used to shadows and loneliness. She uses the name Hestia White and lives in a coastal town working as a private investigator. If some bad guys disappear on her shift, no one cares...until John van Helsing shows up. Bearing the name of the vamps' greatest foe, he interferes in her case and in her life. Yet she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him, both physically and emotionally. Only time will tell whether he will be a friend, a lover or an enemy. A Romantica(r) supernatural erotic romance from Ellora's Cave Publisher's Note: This short story was previously published elsewhere as Immortal Hunters.

This quickie read is an intriguing and erotic vampire romance.  Private investigator Rama is a century old vampire used to shadows and loneliness… until Detective John van Helsing interferes in her case and she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him both physically and emotionally, but only time will tell if he will be a friend, a lover or an enemy.

This fast past plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense, action and romance all packed into a short and fast read.  The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery, details and strong, compelling characters that capture the imagination. The tension builds as Rama and John battle the bad guys to save an infant boy and as the danger escalates so does their attraction. The chemistry between John and Rama explodes off the pages and the sex scenes scorch the reader with red hot passion.

While I think that the story was too short, I really enjoyed this short vampire romance with it unique little twist to the van Helsing legend and having a selkie involved added a little spice.
