Review: Bound by Danger (Men of Honor #4) by S.E. Jakes

The danger that drew them together could send them over the edge…

Playing the role of enforcer in the Killers motorcycle club, all CIA operative Clint “Tomcat” Sommers has to do is make sure he has a body to show for his work. Thanks to his ability to move stealthily and easily between the two worlds, the CIA is damned close to making one of its biggest MC gang busts.

Two years undercover have taken their toll, but there’s no backing out now. Tomcat’s only reprieve from the pressure is fantasizing about the newest member of the gang.

Worry for his cousin’s involvement in the Killers drove Navy SEAL Jace Reynolds to agree to infiltrate the gang to do some short-term surveillance for the FBI. The deal: do the job, and his cousin gets witness protection. When he meets Tomcat, though, his fantasies kick into overdrive. Meeting men while on active duty is tough. Acting on his desires within the club could have deadly consequences.

Despite the risks, Tomcat’s and Jace’s off hours flare hotter than a full-throttle burnout. But the smoke is bound to attract unwanted attention. And when Tomcat suddenly disappears, the secrets both warriors keep could send one of them to the grave.

Product Warnings: Contains two hot men undercover—and under the covers. Both with secrets under wraps that could cause everything to unravel in the deadliest way imaginable. If you’re inspired to try something new on a motorcycle, go for it. Just don’t blame the author for any pulled muscles.

I am now four books into S.E. Jakes incredibly hot Men of Honor series. I’m loving every scorching hot minute of the series too. For the most part Bound by Danger will work as a stand-alone. Tomcat/Clint is mentioned previously, but not in any way that a back story from that is need to enjoy this book to its fullest.

Jace meets Tomcat while trying to help his cousin see the dangers of being actively involved in a motorcycle gang. The motorcycle rider that I am was pleased that Bound by Danger has very little to do with that part of the story. While the blurb makes it appear that Clint and Jace will spend time within this MC that is not what happens. It just paved the road for them to meet and have their initial interaction.

The timespan of this book was interesting. Jace is constantly being pulled away to go on SEALS missions for weeks at a time. Clint is also being pulled away to go CIA missions. Neither man has much contact with the other while away. They correspond as often as they can. This time apart allows for some extremely hot pages when they are actually together. It’s the sex that makes them finally notice that the relationship isn’t progressing as a relationship should. They’re good in the bedroom. They have that aspect down.

The constant time apart and the distance between Clint and Jace make Bound by Danger into a struggling love story. I found that to be very different than the previous books in the series. These two men work well together. Their jobs force them to be apart and keep secrets from the other. While they are really working hard to make a go of what they have together their lives literally keep them apart.

I must point out that the build up to Sawyer & Rex’s book is going to kill me. Their book is Bound to Break, the sixth in the series. Sawyer and Rex get a ton of page time here though. Sawyer and Jace are teammates and friends. A close to death experience draws them even closer together and the men make promises they plan to keep if they make it out alive. They make it out alive and reading those promises being kept makes for an amazing read.

Favorite quotes, Clint to Jace: “I’ll take your company any way I can get it.”

Jace to Clint: “Christ, just fuck me before I grow girl parts.”
