Title: Burn For Me
Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

When asked what I like to read recently my answer of paranormal romances received a thousand yard stare. After I explained what PNRs were, the look did not change much. That friend obviously doesn’t get the attraction. If you share my love of a good PNR, you will love White Hot. Though “romance” is a strong descriptor for what’s happening to our hero and heroine in book one of the Hidden Legacy series. Kidnapping isn’t a very good start for any relationship. Even as angry as her abduction makes her, Nevada finds herself unwillingly attracted to this arrogant, pushy man. Their relationship moves slowly and realistically and I loved the buildup.
Rogan and Nevada find themselves crossing paths several times as they both work to solve the mystery and save their home town. Nevada is woefully unknowledgeable of the magical world despite an incredibly strong natural talent. Rogan is one of the strongest primes. He knows all about the use of magic and the politics of the prime houses who rule Houston making him a valuable asset to Nevada. He also owns his own small army making him an ideal ally as much as Nevada would prefer not to work with him.
The suspense in this book is fast-paced and intense. There is much at stake and lives hang in the balance. Andrews creates a world so well defined that it’s easy to forget it doesn’t actually exist. Every character is thoroughly described so the reader “knows” their evil or good purposes. Some are quirky, others intense, many are geniuses and all are unique and interesting. I wanted to be Nevada and Rogan won my heart long before Nevada appreciated him. Don’t just take my word on how good this book is, as of today more than 10,000 people also rated it 5 stars!
