Review: Burned by Darkness (Dragons of Eternity #1) by Alexandra Ivy

The Dragons of Eternity were once creatures of myth and legend. Now they’ve returned to the world, prepared to claim what’s rightfully theirs…

Tayla is desperate for a place to call home. After years on the run, the young imp impulsively buys a teahouse and is determined to build a new life. Unfortunately, she’s barely opened the doors when she’s tracked down by the dragon who purchased her from troll slave-traders. He demands she pay off her debts…in his harem.

Baine has devoted a quarter of a century to tracking down his beautiful concubine. And now that he has her in his grasp, he’s not about to let her go. But it’s soon apparent that he isn’t the only demon hunting her. He must uncover her secrets or risk losing her forever.

Alexandra Ivy has a new paranormal series out and it is hot. I went into her new Dragons of Eternity series expecting a good paranormal romance. Burned by Darkness is definitely hotter with the sexy than her Guardians of Eternity books. I’m totally on board with that. Baine is a very cocky dragon. He also happens to be a dragon that is beyond possessive about his treasured horde. The items of his horde vary from gold and gems to priceless works of art and musty old books and of course his missing imp, Tayla. There is no mistaking his ownership of Tayla. He reminds her often that he bought her fair and square.

Tayla has other thoughts about the dragon, many of them. While running and hiding from him for the past twenty five years she has had plenty of time to think. Tayla simply wants to bake and run her precious teahouse. Things are simple until Baine finds her. Then her thoughts turn to all the things she wants him to do to her and with her and how to keep themselves busy in his bed, never his harem. That’s the problem though. She knows that the arrogant dragon is using his dragon magic to get what he wants and what he wants is her.

While chest pounding Neanderthals are nothing any sane woman would want in real life, in book escapes they make for uber sexy characters. Bane is that possessive ass that is complete book boyfriend material. His knuckle dragging ways get him in so much trouble where Tayla is concerned. Baine is completely oblivious how to actually woo a woman. He’s a dragon the ultimate in hotness. He just assumes Tayla should recognize it for what it is and fall at his feet like all other women. Tayla can’t deny the attraction and desire she has for Baine. She can however make him work at winning her heart though.

Favorite quotes:

Tayla to Baine: “Obviously I’m either out of my mind or I’ve reached my fear quota.”

Baine to Tayla: “I’m the only male you will have on your mind. And in your bed.”
