Review: Capture & Surrender (Market Garden #5) by L.A. Witt, Aleksandr Voinov

Ever since his partner died, Frank has resigned himself to staying single. He wards off the loneliness by spending time with friends on the paintball field and running his high-end brothel, the Market Garden. After one of his most lucrative rentboys quits, Frank is thrilled when a gorgeous replacement walks through the door. A former US soldier, Stefan is hot, bold, and perfect for the Market Garden’s clientele, especially those with a thing for camouflage and drill sergeants. He's perfect for Frank, too, except Frank has a rule about not getting involved with his own rentboys. During a frisky game of paintball, Stefan makes it clear that he doesn't care about the rules. Not the rules of the game, and definitely not Frank's refusal to get involved. He captures Frank on the field using stealth and cunning, and makes it clear that he’ll do anything to keep a hold of him off the field too.

When I saw Capture and Surrender pop up on NetGalley I had to grab it. One of the gals who reviews on my site as read and loved all of the other Market Garden books. I wanted to experience the awesome for myself. Riptide Publishing has never disappointed me so I clicked that send button. Part of the reason I have stayed away from this series was because of the rentboy/prostitute situation. I have to have a happily ever after. So unless there was some Pretty Woman endings happening I was unsure if it would be the book for me.

I’ve thrown out there that I have to have a happily ever afters. I also need to have an escape from reality with my reads. The paintball games in the blurb hooked me there. I have fond paintball games memories. After reading this book I’m thinking we totally missed out on another fun side of the game. These guys play paintball with sexcapades and capture kink and it is hot! It is all consensual and allows for the men to flex their dominant sides while playing out different fantasies and fetishes.

I missed some of my escape from reality with this read though. Frank and Stefan have to deal with some pretty heavy complications when it comes to their relationship. The complications have very little to do with their employer, employee relationship. They are very real bridges for some couples to cross. I found myself at times wishing Stefan would make the wise decision and walk away. Then I found myself wanting Frank to find some semblance of happiness. So there you have it. There are some things in Frank’s life that should keep Stefan away from him. Stefan also has some things in his past that make him the perfect man for Frank. L.A. Witt and Aleksandr Voinov totally worked this sexy rentboy into that role extraordinarily well.

Favorite quote, Stefan to Frank: “You were the only one I set my sights on before I went out on the field.”

This installment of the Market Garden series works as a stand-alone.
