Review: Confessions of a Gay Rugby Player 2 by Patrick Darcy

Rugby—it’s all about scoring, whether it’s on the field… or off.

While on tour in Copenhagen, it seems nothing is going to stop the Irish from bringing home the trophy and taking the spoils of victory. And while teammates Conor and Sean work up a sweat on the field to claim their prize, the real competition begins after the whistle blows, as the lads discover that Copenhagen is full of hot distractions.

To be sure, there is nothing rotten in the state of Denmark! In fact, Danish men are ripe for the picking. They love sex, have no inhibitions, and they want Irish meat.

But as Conor and Sean put their friendship aside in the pursuit of the hottest Danish players, the question is, will their friendship survive the real sport of man hunting?

I originally grabbed at the opportunity for this title as I had just finished watching The Sum of Us with Russell Crowe as a gay rugby player searching for his Mr. Right as his widowed father is doing the same.  It’s a great film- well worth the watch.  And this was a good book – well worth the read, if you are not put off by the very liberal and frequent sex scenes that pepper the story.

Patrick Darcy is well-schooled in rugby, and I’ve played on some co-ed teams after university and there is a great deal of aggression and tension that could easily be deemed sexual within a scrum. In this story, there is no doubt, and Conor Murphy makes the most of the up close and personal moments to further his own agenda.

Blessed with the charm so commonly associated with the Irish, Conor is handsome, alpha, charming and a talented player, with an eye for the beefcake he encounters on and off field. And on field is where his flirtatious behavior starts, only to lead to one raw, unadulterated sex scene after another.  In fact, the pitch is Conor’s smorgasbord, and he is one very hungry man! This is the second in the series – and Conor has acquired a sidekick in Sean and a whole new set of boys to play with in Copenhagen.

The writing is crisp, quick paced and jumps from one encounter to the next: a flip book with pictures would rival an adult film.  While it manages to incorporate nearly every potential permutation of M/M sexual behavior, the ease and flow of the scenes and the sheer charisma that Conor brings to the story make this a quick, fun and steamy read.  This is a testosterone overload that will entertain and amuse, and have you wondering more about those men on the pitch. Strangely enough, there wasn’t a ton of tension in the friendship between Conor and Sean, perhaps that was due to the copious fantasies and sexual desires filled, but I didn’t find a ton of angst in this fast, fun and steamy read.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
