Review: Crashed (Axle Alley Viper #1) by Sherilee Gray

She swore never to trust him again...

Fiery mechanic Alexandra Franco should have known better. Years ago, her best friends' older brother took her virginity and broke her heart-or rather, doused it with gasoline, lit a match, and then walked away. And Alex definitely should not have indulged in another hot night with him after the fact. He's not the same boy she fell for, and she sure as hell doesn't want anything to do with the wealthy, ruthless man he's become.

Walking away from Alex was the biggest mistake of Deacon West's life. She belongs with him, and if getting her back means playing dirty, so be it. If she'll grant him a three-month, no-strings affair, he won't sell the building Alex and his sisters use for their auto repair business. Hell, he'll even sign it over to them. But will Alex ever entrust her heart to him again, or are they destined to crash and burn?

Alex owns an auto restoration shop with her best friends and sisters, Rusty and Piper. When she received a letter in the mail from their brother, Deacon, threatening to sell the shop’s building out from under them, Alex has no choice but confront him. But he’s the last person she really wants to see as she still nurses a broken heart of his doing.

Deacon wants to make things right with Alex, the one girl he made a huge mistake with and let her go. He knows he screwed up so many years ago and sets a plan in motion to make Alex his. When he decides to sell the building his sister’s shop is in, Alex comes to negotiate time to make the shop more profitable. He gives her a proposition. For three months, she is to be his date at business meetings AND his friend with benefits on the side. If she does, then he will sign the building over to them regardless of profits. Alex begrudgingly agrees knowing any relationship with Deacon could cost her her sanity, but it will be so worth it to own the building themselves!

I really liked Deacon and Alex together! They have known each other since they were children. They have some pretty serious chemistry boiling over! I love that Deacon wants to make Alex remember how they are together and make her fall in love with him again. He hurt her so bad before and knows there is no way she would just believe his feelings now. It’s always been her, so he pulls out all the stops knowing if it doesn’t work, he will be miserable for the rest of his life.

This is told from Alex’s point of view so we learn a lot about her childhood. We find out a bit about Deacon and his sisters’, but I yearned for a bit more. I really enjoyed the aspect of three girls doing a “man’s” job. I do that too, so I could connect with them. Crashed is book one in the Axle Alley Viper series so maybe the next book will tell us how they got into fixing and restoring automobiles. I look forward to it!
