Review: The Current Between Us by Kindle Alexander

Gage Synclair, international, hard-hitting investigative photojournalist, is preparing for the final special report of his career…a story of deception and murder six long years in the making. And after ten years in some of the worst parts of the world, he’s ready to settle life down and open an art gallery in his hometown of Chicago. The only thing getting in his way, he needs to find a competent electrician to finish the job before his grand opening.

Trent Cooper, electrical contractor, is surprised by the last minute request for a fast-paced electrical remodel, wanting nothing more than to get his foot in the door with Layne Construction. Being gay in the construction industry isn’t easy, nor is being father to his two young adopted children. Trent keeps his life in separate zones to avoid a short circuit. But when the gallery owner propositions him on the first day, Trent can’t help but think his worlds are a little too close for comfort.

Will their high-voltage passion spark everlasting love or will their lives break the circuit between them forever?

The one thought still running through my head is ‘I didn’t see that coming.’ For the majority of this book readers are treated to a fast paced love story between an electrical contractor and the owner of the business he is currently working on. Nothing big and dramatic, just really sweet and super sexy. Trent’s children and Gage’s fascination with the very normal suburban family makes the love story so sweet. Gage has always lived a fast paced life as an investigative journalist. He is in the middle of a big life transition, a sort of retirement. Gage is opening a gallery and on the cusp of breaking his biggest story ever. He’s going out with a bang. Everything looks like he will acquire a spouse and children with all the other new. Then there is that whole ‘I didn’t see that coming.’

Gage isn’t the only one experiencing changes in his life. Trent has always kept each aspect of his life separate from each other. First and foremost he is a father to Emalynn and Hunter. He works hard so that he can provide them with the best possible life. Those things have kept him from dating. Gage enters the picture and he is everything Trent could ever want in one person. Gage loves his children and wants to be in the life that Trent has created for his family. The only problem between these two men and their happily ever after is the one thing that I never saw coming. I liked what this aspect added to the story and how these two men worked around it for their forever.

The Current Between Us is an amazingly good book. The mix of sweet and oh so sexy hot gave it a warm and fuzzy feeling. Gage and Trent may a short whirlwind of a romance but it is packed with fun, firsts, and many endearing moments. It’s so easy to see how these men fell so fast and hard for each other. Now I must go off and find some more Kindle Alexander awesomeness.

Favorite quote, Gage to Trent: “I would like you to walk with me, Trent. I want the world to know I found you.”
