Review: Demon Within by Rebecca Royce

Dakota Daniels is an exorcist. Or at least she used to be, until a demon destroyed her life, killing her mother and sending her into hiding. She never knows what’s around the next corner or whether she’ll live through the night.

Brady Knox, billionaire tech guru and media darling, is a man used to getting what he wants. Except when it comes to his sister Sydney. She is the secret he never tells a soul. After all, how do you tell the world your sister has been possessed since she was ten years old without seeming like a lunatic?

When Brady seeks out Dakota’s assistance, he expects to get it. When she doesn’t comply, he’s willing to use every resource at his disposal—even if that means seducing her into doing his bidding.

Dakota’s body yearns for Brady but she isn’t easily fooled, and if she decides to help him it will be on her own terms—assuming they can both make it through the night with their souls intact.

Billionaire Brady is a man used to getting what he wants. The thing he wants most in this world is to have Dakota help him with his possessed sister. He is willing to take any means necessary to convince her including his own body. Dakota use to be an exorcist until demon destroyed her life by killing her mother. Dakota is no fool and is wise to Brady’s games. She wants nothing to do with her former life but as her attraction to Brady grows, she must decide if she is willing to risk it all, including the loss of their souls, to help him

What can I say, I really liked Dakota and Brady. I found both characters very well written and engaging. The sex between them is yowza hot. Nevertheless, really the thing I liked the most about them is how human they come off. Knowing their back-stories made it very easy to feel empathy for both of them equally. Dakota is one tough, smart cookie. Brady is rich but doesn’t come off as an over-the-top ass about it. I got to admit I rolled my eyes when I saw that once again here’s a book with a billionaire in it. However, even though the Brady was loaded and mentioned a few times thorough the novella, his money wasn’t the overwhelming theme and I would really like to thank author Rebecca Royce for that. The fact that Dakota called him out on his actions, then turns the tables and takes control; two thumbs up here!

I wasn’t quite sure to expect when it came to reading the Demon Within. As my first foray in erotic horror, I figured I would be reading something hot, scary and probably no HEA. What I got was a well-executed combination of great sex scenes, and well-paced suspenseful twists and turns that kept me from putting this book down. At no time did I feel the story dragged. I do wish it had been a bit longer because I devoured this book in a short amount of time. The story did end rather abruptly, which left me feeling that I somehow got cheated. In conclusion, Demon Within is a very good book. I look forward to reading more from Rebecca Royce.

I received this book from JeepDiva in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
