Review: Dimitri (Immortals of New Orleans #6) by Kym Grosso

An erotic paranormal romance…
Dimitri LeBlanc, sexy and charismatic beta of Acadian Wolves, survives a brutal attack after his wolf succumbs to a dark force, threatening his very existence. Waking up, tied to a bed, his amusement transforms into lust as a beautiful stranger heals his beast. Intrigued by his mysterious savior, the tables quickly turn, when in the heat of a dark desert night, he rescues her from a barbaric Alpha. Dimitri is inexplicably drawn to the alluring woman, and the discovery that she’s his mate rouses his hunger to claim her as his own.

Gillian Michel, a New York City photographer, conceals a secret hybrid past and mystical abilities. An entire lifetime, she’s deliberately avoided wolves, but a seductive encounter with an irresistible beta leaves her craving his touch, his lips on hers. Passion ignites her desire, leaving her yearning to submit to the powerful wolf who tests her limits.

Deep in the heart of New Orleans, Dimitri and Gillian seek a cure to the parasite maligning his mighty beast. Still on the run from a malevolent force, they lure their enemy into the bayou. Will Gillian sacrifice her gifts to save the man she loves, destroying her own immortality? And will Dimitri eradicate the evil that has invaded his soul while protecting his mate from an adversary who threatens to kill them both?

I don’t know how Kym Grosso does it but she hit another one out of the park with Dimitri. This sixth entry in the Immortals of New Orleans is wickedly funny, suspenseful and purrfectly delicious!

I love when a can laugh at and with a character. Dimitri is very much quite THE character. So witty and charming, it’s hard not to smile. Actually, I fell in love with him from the previous book. Now Gillian is just WOW! What can I say without giving too much away. I got to admit I am loving these funky hybrids combinations the author has come up with. Would I have picture a wolf crossed with a (Blank) combo? Not in a million years. However, I think it’s a fitting mix because it certainly brought out the humor. Side note: I am loving Jake! His reaction when Gillian shifts for the first time….classic! I’m hoping he gets his own story. The banter between Dimitri and Gillian is fun and flirty. I do have to admit, I sort of expected Dimitri’s story having him end up with a completely different woman but the way things worked out with all involved parties…two thumbs up.

The excitement level in this book was fairly high for me. There were quite a few YOWZA! moment. I love when the unexpected sneaks up and catches me off-guard. I the adrenalin rush I got from the hot sex (BTW…expect some M/F/M), action and suspense kept me hooked from beginning to end. And speaking of endings, I think I need to start not reading the epilogues in Ms. Grosso’s books. All they do is leave me panting and wanting the next book.

One more thing; the cover. I still am drooling over that. It’s the perfect image of Dimitri. Hot, sexy and completely lickable.

As much as I would say this book works as a stand-alone, there are a few things that happened in the previous book that would help make Dimitri’s situation, so to speak, more understandable. I for one think this series is fantastic and believe it needs to be read from the beginning. I’ve gotten all my friends hooked on the Immortals of New Orleans. They, like me were lured in by the hot covers, and have stuck around for the hot stories. Now the hard part…waiting for the next book!
