Title: Dirty Dancing at Devil's Leap
As Avalon Harwood's fortunes soared, Maximilian “Mac” Coltrane's plummeted, and he had to fight his way back to where they both began: Hellcat Canyon. Now Mac and Avalon will play dirty—in more ways than one—to get what they each want: the glorious old abandoned Coltrane mansion. But when Avalon snaps the house up at auction, she discovers there's something awfully familiar about the extremely hot caretaker...
Mac might have a heart of stone, and the abs to match, but Avalon—the dazzling girl whose heart was always too big and too reckless for her own good—was always his Kryptonite. And just like that, the stakes change: suddenly they're fighting not just for a house, but for a magic they tasted only once before and never since—long ago, with each other, at Devil's Leap.

When the email came out that this book was available to review I answer “I have to have this book”. When I took the first book in the series, I didn’t know Long’s work but the book looked interesting. I loved Hot in Hellcat Canyon and added Long to favorite authors list. She creates great characters, interesting situations and always adds at least one scene that has me literally laughing out loud.
Dirty Dancing at Devil’s Leap has all these elements. Avalon and Mac have so much history together and have had a lot of history since their halcyon days so long ago. Life has taken both in unforeseen directions but fate has brought them back to Hellcat Canyon.
I loved Mac. He’s had to deal with a lot and most of it publically. His caring for his fellow veterans is admirable, his love for animals is heartwarming and I loved his interactions with Avalon’s niece and the girls of her troupe. He may use a hard exterior to protect his heart but it’s obvious he’s a good and caring person.
Avalon is also great. She almost single handedly runs her internet startup even despite having a partner in the company and life. She’s bright and capable. Corbin has left her heart tattered so she seeks refuge back home.
Mac’s family’s summer home excites her with its potential so she’s determined to win the auction. Mac’s not happy at being bested in the bidding and hopes to get Avalon to sell it to him. When she hires him to help restore it they inevitably begin to establish a new relationship.
While there’s not much surprise in how everything ultimately plays out, the journey is thoroughly enjoyable. I laughed, I cried and I cheered.
