Review: Double Bind (Iron Butterfly #2) by Sindra van Yssel

Meg Quinn has it all. She’s sexy, she owns her own company, and she’s used to being the boss. She doesn’t have any problem finding a date or a bed partner, but somehow none of them satisfies her as much as a good weekend challenging herself on the ski slopes – or even working.

Her friend convinces her to go to Iron Butterfly, the best BDSM party in the area. Meg can’t resist the challenge to take on a Dom or two and see what they can do. She plays with Karl, the sadist, and Garrett, the sensualist. They both want to play with her again, and they make her feel feminine and submissive in a way that delights her. They are different in every way except that they both take control. Meg would like to put off choosing between them indefinitely, but she couldn’t ask for a better bind to be in.

This is one of those stories that is all about “the connection.”  You know the ones.  Someone goes to a BDSM club out of curiosity and ends up making a connection.

In this case it isn’t so much a club as Iron Butterfly.  Do you remember Only if it Pleases?  I reviewed it here on The Jeep Diva back in July.  It is actually Vanessa’s house that she allows the use of for play parties.  Don’t worry, the location is the only connecting tread here.  Although Vanessa and Hart are there, they are now only supporting cast.  Double Bind can be read very easily as a stand-alone.

Okay, now that I have filled you in on all that, what can I tell you without spoilers?  Meg is one of those really strong women that intimidate the hell out of most people.  You know the type.  Knows her own mind and isn’t afraid to speak it.  Holds a position of power and welds it well.  But in her personal life . . . well she is intimidating so most men just don’t cut it and generally leave her cold.

So when friend, Jannah, invites her along to Iron Butterfly, why not.  Beats working late again on a Friday night.  Now here I could go on about “being careful what you wish for” or “curiosity killing the cat” but I really think maybe you, like me, have read enough of this kind of book to kind of figure out what happens.  Just times it by two.

What made this ménage special was the difference in how the two guys are in their approaches to BDSM – Karl likes to give pain and Garrett is all about the power exchange.  One cuddles, the other doesn’t.  They actually complemented each other quite well.  I would worry about spoilers here, but the blurb pretty much tells you this too.

So, what I will say is, this was a fun and entertaining read.  I liked the characters.  The story, for what is was, was well thought out and moved along well.  The scenes were HOT!  The ending was quite satisfying.  I think Meg said – or thought – it best, “Maybe it’s not a very submissive thought, but it takes two men to top Meg Quinn.”
