Review: Essence of the Challenge (Love & Rivalry #1) by S.J.D. Peterson

The competition is on when two sexy players set their sights on one woman who has no intention of being anyone’s prize. Will the ultimate challenge be true love?

With too many relationships ending in heartache under her belt, the new and improved Symone Adams is loud, proud and on the prowl. She has removed the heart she’s normally worn on her sleeve and tucked it safely under lock and key. What she wants now is to explore the appeal of meaningless, mind-blowing sex. After six months of self-imposed celibacy hell, she heads to Menjo’s and directly into the path of two very determined players.

Zander and Marco are pros when it comes to seduction, yet each has grown bored with their conquests. When these two strangers set their sights on the same stunning beauty, the competition is on. Both embark on a full balls-to-the-wall effort to win not only Symone’s body, but her heart as well.

What none of them can predict, though, is where their chance encounter will take them, especially Marco and Zander. While the men focus on winning Symone, it’s the electricity arcing in the air between them that will be the real challenge.

Essence of the Challenge is a menage and the first book in the Love and Rivalry series by SJD Peterson.  I have to say, I really enjoyed all three characters and what they brought to the story.
Marco and Zander meet Symone at a club one night after Symone decides she wants to be a player.  After so many relationships ending in hurt, she wants to have fun but without the emotional aspect.  All learned much about themselves but , I think, this book gave us more about Symone learning who she really is and is not.
Marco and Zander have an instant attraction to Symone.  She is enamored with both.  After a night of craziness, she cannot pick just one.  Both men try to outdo the other to win her affections. She’s rather guarded and they end up working together.

This story moved right along.  I loved how Symone went for what she wanted.  Yes she let her feelings enter the picture and I felt her struggles.  The chemistry between the trio was scorch the sheets hot!  I was jealous of Symone!  The scenes were very well-written and I could see why Symone didn’t want to ever be put into the situation to choose. Talk about hot!! I also enjoyed the banter between the men!  They started out as competitors and along the way, end up friends-with the possibility of so much more! When Symone tries to give them some distance from her, I loved that they were just that more determined to make her acknowledge what was happening isn’t an every day occurrence.

All in all Essence of the Challenge is a great start to this new series and I look forward to see how this menage handles everyday life going forward!
