Review: Falling for a Redneck by Eve Langlais

Can his fiery touch melt her frozen heart?

He’s paid for his crimes and is trying to go straight.
She’s shed her tears and uses anger to cope.

They are complete and utter opposites, who don’t just attract, they explode.

Will their past be what brings them together, or ultimately tears them apart?

Swearing off men after her husband leaves her for another woman, Marissa turns to domination as a form of anger management. But she ends up punishing the wrong man and finds herself in danger as someone sets out to teach her a fatal lesson of their own. As if she didn’t have enough problems, the redneck from hell moves in next door and proceeds to drive her insane—mostly with his kisses.

A run-in with the law, not to mention two little boys, have made Dirk see the light. He’s cleaned up his act and is determined to stay away from trouble, but how can he ignore the ice princess next door who makes him want to light a fire in her perfectly creased pants? The more she pushes him away, the more he’s determined to have her—in his bed and arms. He just never expected her to win over his heart.

He’s trying to go straight – she’s uses anger to cope – together they explode with passion in this heart-melting contemporary romance. Marissa is a dominatrix dispensing pain to others to purge her own and the redneck from hell just moved in next door, upsetting her strict orderly life. Determined to stay away from trouble and raise his boys, Dirk can’t ignore the ice princess next door and the more she pushes him away, the more he’s determined to have her.

This steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers engaged with lots of drama, romance, passion and a little bit of humor.  The author describes the story with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated emotional drama draws the reader deeper into the story and ensures that the reader wants to know more.  The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction Dirk and Marissa feels for each other takes them both by surprise but heats up quickly and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but it’s the relationship that has sparks flying, especially as Marissa is determined to keep Dirk and his boys at arms length.  The reader can’t help but get emotionally involved and empathize with Marissa and her traumatic past and the resulting emotional issues. The unique way she found to deal with her pain and anger adds spice and intrigue to the story and Dirk captures the heart as the bad boy turns good.

This romance is different from other works by this author but as with the others captivates the reader and draws them in and ensures that they can’t put the book down until they have read the very last word.  The book is serious, but enjoyable and entertaining and I especially liked the unique ending that makes this couple’s HEA a very special one indeed.
