Review: The Fire Inside (Lycan Lust #1) by Virginia Cavanaugh

Werewolves be damned. Tyra Smith chose to leave behind her nature to protect her heart after the wrenching loss of her own pack. She wants nothing to do with another wolf. Never again wants to feel the deep pain of loss. At least until a sexy-as-sin wolf named Konrad shows up, saving her from the roaming paws of another wolf.

The sparks of lust ignite a desire that burns with hellish intensity inside her, making her crave something she’d dared to forsake. The ability to resist wanes. Is it a true mate bond that pulls her to him or just the heat cycle she’s entering? Something only time can tell.

When a real threat from another pack presents itself, Tyra must move into Konrad’s den for her physical protection. But as things continue to heat up between the two of them, will he also be able to protect her heart?

The first book in the Lycan Lust series is a riveting erotic shifter romance that captures the heart.  Traumatized by her past, Tyra Smith wants nothing to do with another wolf until a sexy as sin wolf named Konrad shows up and saves her from another wolf’s paws. For her protection, Tyra has to move into his den when a real threat from another pack presents itself, but can Konrad protect her heart as well?

This fast paced and smooth flowing short novel keeps readers on their toes with suspense, action and romance.  The author brings this erotic wolf romance to life with well written scenes and details that inspire vivid images that capture the imagination and the action scenes are well orchestrated and believable.  The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the beginning.  Spine tingling tension builds throughout the story as the danger from the other pack escalates and the past comes back to haunt Tyra.

The attraction between Tyra and Konrad burns up the pages and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but the relationship is what captures the heart of the readers in this romance.  The readers can’t help but get caught up in their story as Tyra’s past makes it hard for her to accept Konrad into her life plus she feels that she can’t ever be the wolf he needs.  Konrad is an alpha with a sweet side that endears him to the readers and then his protective side sends delicious shivers up the reader’s spine.  The emotional scenes cause a few tears, some smiles and some chuckles as well as some righteous indignation when it comes to the bad bad wolves and of course great satisfaction when they get what they deserve.

The author has created a captivating paranormal romance with wonderful characters that draw the reader deep into the story and has them wanting to know more.  I found this short erotic novel to enjoyable and entertaining and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
