Review: Forever Immortal (Immortals #4) by J.K. Coi

Book 4 in the Immortals series.

Eight years ago, science and reason ruled Gideon Bennett’s life. Until the death of an Immortal triggered a physical transformation, forcing him out of the laboratory and into a world of violence for which he was ill-prepared. Now a seasoned warrior, he is still haunted by his one massive failure—and the face and body of the woman he couldn’t save.

Lyssa James wasn’t looking for trouble when she set out to enjoy a night on the town. Instead she got a first-class ticket to a demon Hell dimension where she was trapped for eight long years. Now she’s finally escaped…only to run into the man who failed her. The passion between them is instant and irresistible, but neither of them is the same person they were eight years ago. And even as they battle with their desire, one of the nastiest demons from the Abyss is on the loose, threatening not only their lives but the future of humanity.

In the book Forever Immortal we meet Lyssa and Gideon. Lyssa is a human that is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gideon is a Immortal on the hunt. A chance encounter by the two lands Lyssa in a demon hell dimension. Gideon feels his greatest failure is not saving her. Flash forward eight years and we find she’s finally escaped…only to run into the man who failed her. Neither of them are the same people they were eight years ago. As Lyssa, now Nyx, struggles to adapt to her former world Gideon must decide if she is threat to humanity. As their growing attraction to one another emerges, a demon from the Abyss escapes. The very same demon that caused Lyssa to be trapped for eight long years. And he wants her back!

So what did I like about this book? Since it’s filled with action and romance, pretty much everything. Lyssa and Gideon are great characters and wonderfully written. I truly think author J.K.Coi did a great job in in showing both their struggles. The conflicts between the two main characters pales in comparison between the inner turmoils they each faced and by seeing both sides I felt I truly got to understand both of them. While the sex between them is steamy my favorite scene between them is in the kitchen when Gideon offers to make Lyssa her first meal after returning from the hell dimension and all she wants is a salad. The secondary characters are from previous books in the series which I have not read yet. However I found them all interesting enough I plan on starting the series from the beginning to see what I have missed. Over-all, this page-turner kept me riveted until the very end. Forever Immortal is definitely something I would recommend to my friends.

I received this book from JeepDiva in exchange for my honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.
