Review: Gabby Revealed (Finding Perfect #2) by Amy Gregory

Gabby James didn’t have the idyllic childhood many in her little hometown of Renlend, Kansas had. High school was a living hell, but when she graduated she couldn’t bring herself to leave Renlend. The town was her prison, but her family’s bookstore, The Looking Glass, was her one true love. It was the place she could run to, and escape the prying eyes of the ones who taunted her.

Shane Compton was a literary agent in one of the most prestigious publishing houses in New York City. He found no greater rush than finding the next big talent, someone who could take the written word and turn it into an art form. In the span of one rude phone call Shane was drawn into the mystery of just who the fiery new author from Kansas was. When everyone else in the office refused to deal with her, Shane willingly accepted the challenge. There was no logic to the madness, but every time he had contact with her, she drove him wild.

Gabby tried every trick in the book to keep Shane at arm’s length, but he had made good on his promise to come to Kansas. He wanted to pull her out of anonymity, he wanted her in the public eye. Now here he stood, on the sidewalk in front her bookstore, and one look told her he was everything she was afraid he’d be. Too bad she was anything but who he thought she was.

Gabby quickly discovers Shane has more on his mind than just books and with a little help from an ornery matchmaker, he shows her a whole new life through her looking glass.

The second book in the Finding Perfect series is a fantastic romance that captures the heart.  To Gabby James Renlend, Kansas, the town she grew up in is her prison, but her family’s bookstore is her one true love. Shane Compton, a literary agent in New York is drawn into the mystery of who the new author from Kansas. When Shane shows up at her bookstore, Gabby tries to keep him at arm’s length but she soon discovers that he’s got more on his mind than just books.

The steady paced plot draws the reader deep into the story with a little suspense into the mystery of Gabby, the pursuit of Gabby and Gabby’s self discovery.  The author uses well written scenes and details to give the story, the town and the characters life and grabs their attention from the very beginning.  The drama of the romance captivates readers and the reader can’t help but get emotionally caught up in the story.

The attraction between Gabby and Shane is sweet and sensual and the sex scenes are steamy, but the book is more about Shane’s pursuit of Gabby, the woman he fell in love with over the phone.  Shane maneuvers around Gabby’s prickly personality with admirable tenacity and readers can certainly relate to Gabby and the pain of her past and since her prickly and snarky dialogue hides her vulnerable and shy self, the reader smiles as she slowly comes to realize that there can be a happily ever after for her.

The author does such a great job of bringing these characters to vibrant life and she brought tears to my eyes during a very sad scene and smiles over Gabby and Shane’s relationship.  I found this fantastic heartfelt romance to be enjoyable and entertaining and I can’t wait to read Tyson’s story.
