Review: Healing Her Cowboy by Molly Ann Wishlade

Home is where the healing is.

Summer Quinn has been away from the Moonglow Dude Ranch a long time. Now she’s coming home. But is she ready for what awaits her?

Summer’s been hurt, her confidence wounded, her trust destroyed, and she has sworn never to fall for a man again. Trouble is, she’s still in love with the one man she thought would never want her.

Barrett Thorne had to quit the rodeo circuit because of injury. One more fall could be fatal. He’s certain he’s no longer desirable, especially since his wife left him for another cowboy. All he wants is manual labor to wear him out and a place to lay his head.

But beneath the Pocono moon, can Summer begin to heal her cowboy?

After living in New York for what has felt like forever, Summer has decided to come home. Nothing is holding her in New York any longer, no job nor cheating boyfriend. She needs time to heal her broken heart and find herself again. As she approaches her childhood home, her childhood friend and secret crush is waiting with her family. And boy, oh boy, has he grown up!

I am not sure how to feel about this book. I liked the blurb enough to read it and it seemed a quick, light read. It came through with that promise but the characters were all over the place with their emotions. At one point it seemed that they had secret crushes on each other all growing up. Then they adamantly say that they are just friends. It was quite confusing.

I also did not understand why they were so afraid to each other know what happened to them. I mean they were lifelong friends and always could confide in each other. The feelings they had for each other came quickly and I did not feel that much heat between them. Normally with novellas such as this one from page one you can feel the heat but besides how they saw each other chemistry was lacking.

Overall, it was a quick, light, and sweet read that had a sexy cowboy who was hurting and needed his cowgirl to heal his heart.

I was gifted a copy of this novella from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review. The opinions and ratings are solely my own and I was in no way compensated.
