Review: Hero Rising (Heroes of Saturn #5) Anna Alexander
Title: Hero Rising
Ari Rayner’s fresh start in the city is put on hold when her car breaks down on a mountain pass. Her savior is a hooded angel with haunted eyes who gives new meaning to the words “smoldering intensity”. Drawn to his strength, she revels in helping him succumb to his illicit fantasies. Just because she’s a woman doesn’t mean she’s afraid to get down and dirty.
Bale made a deathbed promise to protect those who cannot protect themselves, a vow he’s done a damn fine job of upholding, but the fire burning within Ari beckons him to play in the flames, and the heat they generate brings the house down. But such brilliance sheds light on past mistakes that Bale must now answer for. With his true nature revealed, Ari uses everything at her disposal—whips, straps and a firm hand—to convince Bale he is not a monster and is worthy of her love.

I received this book for free from the Publisher or Author in exchange for an honest review, or I purchased it with my own funds. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Hero Rising book five in the Heroes of Saturn series starts out interesting and just keeps going. Ari’s attempt at a fresh start starts with a broken down car on the side of the road. Bale has sworn to protect those who can’t protect themselves. When Bale rescues Ari from an attack, sparks fly when their eyes meet. Smolder heat sometimes isn’t enough. They will need to overcome their pasts before they can have a future.
Now for the emotional book in the series. I LOVE Ari! She’s a funny sassy hot red-headed spitfire. You know she is got to be a great character when her real name is Ariel. A red-head named Ariel. Don’t go looking for a singing crab. That position is filled by Bale. Bale, hot and yummy he’s been angry and confused most of his life. NOBODY hate Bale more than himself. His self-loathing knows no bounds. She is the perfect counter to his personality. They struggle with their past mistakes and losses but like to drowning souls the drawn to each other. When they finally stop resisting each other…YOWZA. Bale has a wicked dark side he slowly introduces Ari to and yeah, that is some seriously hot moments. Of course Bale still thinks he’s undeserving of her love so when his big reveal happens…oh boy. Sorry no more details here. Let’s just say I was mixed between shaking him for being such a guy and wanting to hug him…for the same reason. I will say this, I do love the journey they take to the HEA. We don’t get much interaction with the previous characters in the series with the exception of Amaryllis, which of course she has to be all up in everyone’s business, and her mate, Lucian. But that’s okay because she has everyone’s well-being at heart.
I’m not sure if there will be any more books in this series. Frankly, unless another ship crash lands on Earth from Saturn with more refuges this may be it. I’m really hoping there will be because I have enjoyed this series. Ms. Alexander hooked me with the first book. Do read Hero Rising and if you get the chance, go back and read the whole series.
