Catherine Fry would stop at nothing to free her son and mother. Their captor demanded the Ruby Cross of the Knights Templar as the price of their freedom. Unfortunately, that artifact is in the hands of Captain Thomas Glanville, who plans on selling it for a pretty penny. Her family comes first, Catherine is determined to get the Cross any way she can-even if she has to become a pirate to get it.
Captain Thomas Glanville can’t believe that he and his crew have been taken hostage by a group lead by a female. Now he’s a prisoner on his own ship! Catherine is a woman on a mission – to get the artifact but not because she wants it for herself, but because she needs it to save her family. Now if only the Captain holding that treasure wasn’t so enticingly attractive!
His Pirate Seductress by Tamara Hughes is a pirate adventure featuring a strong lady pirate! I like pirates, who doesn’t like pirates! This is the first book I’ve ever read by Tamara Hughes and I enjoyed her writing style. The book though, I wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t connect with the characters very well! Plus, I like my romances with a lot of spiciness to grab my attention, sadly this didn’t do that for me.
I liked where the author was going with the story in general. The female pirate taking prisoners was a savvy storyline. I am attracted to strong females in traditionally male roles. The biggest issue I have is the romantic angle. Yes there seemed to be an attraction but it’s a stretch to view it as a romance. The storyline is intriguing and that’s what the author’s true intention is. Would I recommend this book? Yes-if you are a fan of historical fiction. If you are looking for hot and heavy on the high seas-this isn’t the book for you!
