Review: Hostile Intent (Universal Defiance #4) by Chandra Ryan

A few hours of passionate, meaningless sex is all Renee needs to take the edge off before her next reconnaissance mission. And the dangerously handsome stranger she meets on the space station docks is more than happy to give it to her.

But her quickie turns out to be a Coalition soldier who’s been ordered to kidnap her. Adam has no idea how tempting his new mission will be or how quickly his intended victim will work her way under his skin. And when someone tries to kill her, he must decide where his loyalties lie.

If they’re going to survive, they’ll need help from Renee’s longtime lover. As an investigative reporter, Michael has the contacts and access to information they need. He also has a raw sexual chemistry with women and men alike, and Adam can’t resist.

Inside Scoop: This ménage features some scorching male-male action.

The fourth book in the Universal Defiance series is a thrilling and erotic adventure romance.  A pilot and captain for the military, a journalist and a coalition member are forced to join forces to survive when they are attacked, as their secrets are revealed they must decide just who can be trusted and if their attraction to each other is enough to bridge the gaps.

This fast paced plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seats with lots of action, suspense and sizzling passion.  The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery, details and strong compelling characters that grab the reader’s attention and keeps it to the very end.  The tension builds as the reader follows the story waiting to see if Adam will betray Renee, if Michael will convince Renee that not everything is black and white and if Renee will decide that both men are worth keeping around.

The chemistry between Renee and the two men explodes from the pages as the threesome try to work out their relationship and their political differences.  The frequent sex scenes scorch the reader with their intensity including menage sex scenes and m/m scenes. The author conveys the emotions and passion of the characters with a vibrancy that draws the reader deeper into the story.

The world is a fascinating futuristic science fiction world that captures the reader’s imagination and the characters are easily related to and leave the readers wanting to know more.  I must recommend that the series be read in order though because I have not read the previous books and while the book was an enjoyable and entertaining quick read, I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had knew more about what had been happening in this world. Hostile Intent
