Review: How To Catch An Heiress (Heiress Series #1) by Natalie Rios

Anthony Carter has not had it easy in life. In a matter of months, he lost his mother to cancer along with his much coveted spot in a prestigious doctoral program. Swimming in debt, he's been forced to move back to his hometown in rural Montana and take whatever job he can find. A drunken weekend in Vegas is exactly what he needs to help him forget his problems.

A recent break-up with her boyfriend of nearly a decade has left straight-laced Liz Rockwell disillusioned with love and in desperate need of a vacation. She gets more than she bargained for when one drunken night at a Vegas bar results in her being married to Anthony. Embarrassed by her lapse in judgment, Liz is ready to make this whole night just go away. A quickie divorce seems like the best solution to their problem, until Anthony realizes who Liz really is.

Known in the media as the Candy Heiress, billionaire Liz is the answer to Anthony’s prayers. All he has to do is convince her to write him a check. Unfortunately, Liz is not one to be easily intimated or coerced. Discovering the Rockwell family secret may be Anthony’s only hope. But the more time he spends with the intelligent and tenacious Liz, the more he realizes their chapel wedding may not have been such a drunken mistake after all...

I really enjoyed How to Catch an Heiress! This is Natalie Rios debut novel and I found she did a great job with it! I especially love the dual POV’s because I love being inside each of the main character’s head.

Liz Wheaton Rockwell is a billionaire. Coming from the Rockwell family, she’s been raised with the silver spoon in her mouth. But that family is totally dysfunctional! Her father has been through five wives, her oldest brother’s a recluse, and she has a love/hate relationship with her twin brother. She has risen above all that is Rockwell, by educating herself. She’s become a successful divorce attorney. She doesn’t like any of the Rockwell fortune she has, and prefers to live on her own hard-earned cash. She’s been hurt by her cheating boyfriend of ten years, so she doesn’t trust people.

Anthony Carter is a biomedical engineer and a college professor. He’s a self-proclaimed nerd whose adorable. He is soft and squishy inside. Definitely not the typical alpha male! Having been through a lot thus-far in his life, a well-earned weekend away to Las Vegas is on tap. His buddies dump him for the casino floor and Anthony heads to the bar to relax. There he meets Liz. She’s just found out her friends will not be appearing for their girls weekend! Anthony is attracted immediately. Liz warms up after a few rounds of drinks.

The next morning we find the two nearly naked with rings on! Both on a total blackout drunk, do not remember getting married. The certificate is there and neither wants to be married, so they agree to part ways. Liz says she’ll have it taken care of and deal with the divorce.

Once home, Anthony changes his mind when he finds out who Liz really is. Knowing she is worth billions, he’s determined to ask for monetary help to pay his bills. She won’t miss a few hundred thousand dollars now would she? Only his plan backfired. Liz wouldn’t give him the money he sought, but negotiates an agreement where Anthony gives her the divorce she wants after 20 days of couple-ness.

As you can guess, it’s a battle between these two! They both had their own game-plan and were trying to execute them, but it’s not really working. They find out that they enjoy each other’s company and slowly a relationship is developing. As they progress through the days of the agreement, they find their views and priorities change. It’s a slow burn!

Overall the premise is fun and I enjoyed the journey they took. I think its a great into to the Heiress series and I look forward to reading book two!
