Review – Hunter Mourned (Wild Hunt #3) by Nancy Corrigan

Two souls cheated. A love mourned. A future never forgotten.

One goal sends Trevor O’Connor prowling the streets at night—revenge against the man preying on tall, dark-haired women. But in the ‘Otherworld’ that Trevor is now a part of, plans never go as expected, especially when he’s only a human playing with monsters.

A random act of violence forces Rowan to face eternity alone. She fills her nights with mindless sex, hunting, and her duty to mankind…until she meets a man who helps her remember love. Claiming what once belonged to her isn’t as simple as she’d like, however.

She’s not free.

The curse hanging over her demands she choose a path. And Trevor will do anything to ensure she picks the right one.

(Takes a deep breath and exhales slowly)

You know when you read about a potential pairing in a previous installment and pretty much beg the Gods to grant you the chance to read their story. And then to finally find out that THIS, THIS RIGHT HERE is that story you’ve been waiting for? Oh. My. Goddesses!!! This is EVERYTHING! Do you know why it’s everything? Because love is love and no matter what, it WILL concur in the end. (sigh)

Ok, before I start, please note that this is NOT A STANDALONE (Yes, I really like using capital letters, so). If you try reading this without first reading the others, not only will this review not make sense, but you’ll be lost while reading this (even though the author does a great job in “re-capping” the past installments). It’s bad enough that I’ll need to give my review in code, but at least those who have read the others will be able to follow along a little…

After being stabbed in the fairy realm as a human, Trevor spent his days recovering at the Hunter’s Compound. It’s during his recovery that he can’t get the images he saw while in that realm out of his mind. Not that they were awful, but they stared a certain Huntress that should be off limits to humans. And it didn’t help that she not only shadowed him everywhere he went but in his dreams as well. If he wanted a chance to become part of Teulu, he wanted to prove his worth, not get let in because of his involvement with Rowan.

Rowan watched Trevor bleed, a lot, in that fairy realm. She was also forced to live through her dead mates death all over again, except, it wasn’t her mate that stared in the vision. Ever since she returned to the human world, she vowed to watch over Trevor to make sure he was safe at all costs. But the more she followed and hug around him, the more she started feeling “things” for him and wondering if Trevor could be her mates reincarnation. Apparently the Triad has plans too, it looks like Rowan is the next one to be challenged.

Love. Love is the theme in this book. And I LOVE IT!!! Ok, overkill? Sorry, but it’s true. This is amazing. We still get to visit Hell, Arawn, Minerva, Lucas and even some angels. But it’s Rowan’s journey in finding herself again that made me all gushy. I will say this though. There is a point in this story that I was like, “WTF is that S*@!?”, but was soon reminded that the author knows what she’s doing and leads us down “her” path for us to enjoy. I’ve enjoyed all of these installments, but this one is by far my favorite one…..although….if I’m to guess who’s story is next, that may become my new obsession…
