Review: Iron Rods (Strip Club # 1) by Brenna Zinn

The women of Austin, Texas, could mix fantasy with flesh at Iron Rods but the strip club is now in disrepair. Bennett Truitt, estranged son of the club’s aging and half-crazy owner, wants to replace the landmark with condos. He hires feisty Tatum to manage the club, sure she will fail, but not before he has a chance to sample her skills in bed.

After another rejection letter, Tatum realizes she’ll never be a professional dancer on or off Broadway. Down on her luck, she’s determined to make the run-down club successful no matter what, or who, it takes. She never expected her new boss to be so enticing they’re breaking doors down to get to each other, get their clothes off, taste each delectable inch.

Sparks fly in this riveting contemporary romance because Bennett Truitt is determined to tear down his father landmark strip club and replace it with condos and he’s sure that hiring Tatum to manage the club will be a surefire way for the club to fail. Tatum on the other hand is sure that not only can she keep the club open that she can make it into a huge success.

This steady to fast paced plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, drama and fiery passion.  The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and invite the readers to join in on the fun and drama of this “opposite attract” romance. The characters are strong, compelling, easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The chemistry between Bennett and Tatum burns up the pages and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but it is the relationship that has fireworks exploding everywhere as Bennett and Tatum butt heads.  Bennett has some past issues to deal with, issues that he wants to take out on the club and his father.  Stick foot in mouth seems to be popular with him as he tries to handle Tatum only there is a couple of things he didn’t count on: his attraction to her and her feisty determination.  While Tatum struggles with giving up her dream and turning Iron Rods into a successful club, she has issues believing that she could possibly have a chance with Bennett.

The author has created a fantastic romance with a fun atmosphere while still a serious and emotional romance that captures the heart.  I was totally caught up in the story from beginning to end and the captivating characters ensure that I want to know more, not to mention that I want to know more about the club, if it was real, I think I would be the first one in the door. I am looking forward to reading the next one, besides I really want to know who the masked dancer is.
