This short is a twist on the more common male dominant, female submissive characterizations common to most heterosexual erotic stories.  Koo is a graduate student, thoroughly in love with his mistress Rai.  Rai is a successful attorney in Atlanta, and a take-charge sort of woman in and out of the bedroom.

Kayelle Allen has created a short story that gives us a reasonable view of both sides of this relationship, although the emotional connection between the two didn’t come forward strongly until the very steamy bondage and flogging scene.  As a short story, character development is not as detailed or emotionally impacting as it would be in a full-length novel, but the author manages to insert enough honestly detailed insecurities and questions into each character’s internal monologue to give a fuller sense of their need for this relationship and their feelings for one another.

A quick reading little story – it is perfect for a just before bed read, with enough steam and heat to fuel dreams and actions.
