The first book in the Werewolf Marines series is an intriguing shifter romance with lots of emotional depth.  All Roy ever wanted was to be a Marine, but he’s been bitten by a werewolf, locked up in a secret underground lab and unable to return to the marines, he’s now hiding out in the woods of Yosemite.  Laura was acclaimed as a hero for her courage during a bank robbery gone violently wrong but she’s overcome with guilt for the people she didn’t save and flees the city to hide out in a cabin in Yosemite. They will have to come together, depend on each other and face their fears in order to survive a mysterious enemy.

This steady paced plot keeps readers entertained with suspense, drama and romance.  The author draws the reader into the story with well written descriptions and details that grab the reader’s attention and strong compelling characters that grab a hold of the reader and doesn’t let go. The drama both emotional and from the mysterious enemy adds lots of depth to the story and quite a few intriguing characters that arouses the reader’s curiosity.

The attraction between Laura and Roy radiates heat from the pages and the sex scenes are hot and steamy, but it’s the relationship that makes the story in this werewolf tale.  The reader can’t help but get emotionally involved with everything that both have been through and are going through.  The couple connects on an emotional level that gradually heals them as the romance progresses.

The author has added a couple of unique and interesting elements that surprise the reader and adds a little heartfelt humor. I enjoyed this romantic drama even though I found it was kind of slow in a couple of places, but it imparted important emotional information that draws the reader deeper to the characters.
