Review: To Love and Submit (Boundaries #1) by Katy Swann

Rachel Porter’s dreams of being dominated are finally about to come true. But can she live up to the demands of a real-life Dom?
Rachel Porter is feisty, independent and horny. Her libido is taunting her with erotic dreams of being tethered and spanked by a gorgeous, dominant man and, as a result, she decides to pursue her fledgling interest in BDSM after her trusted Rabbit gives up on her.

When she unexpectedly bumps into her sexy but demanding boss, Adam Stone, at Boundaries, an exclusive BDSM club, it seems all her dreams are about to come true. Adam is a strict and challenging Dom and it’s not long before he has Rachel kneeling at his feet, right where she wants to be.

Rachel soon comes to crave Adam’s firm discipline, but when she becomes too flippant and deliberately provokes a spanking, she finds out that a real punishment is not as pleasurable as an erotic one. Nevertheless, her complete surrender during these punishments takes her to new heights she never thought possible.

But Rachel also learns that one of the most important aspects of a BDSM relationship is trust, and that’s the one thing she doesn’t have. After a lifetime of betrayal, she’s not about to risk losing her heart again.

To make matters worse, when she learns that Adam’s ex-wife was, in fact, his slave, she realises that she might have to give up more than she’d bargained for if she’s to remain his submissive.

Reader Advisory: This book contains BDSM and mentions of 24/7 Total Power Exchange. There are scenes of masturbation, spanking, flogging and public club-sex.

I found To Love and Submit to be a fun sexy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. The two main characters are well written and completely likable. Their story will grab you and leave you wanting more because frankly, it’s a juicy one. This is one book I could not put down and I doubt anyone who reads it will either.

Nothing like a little office romance to spice things up. While we are on the subject of spicy, that is a very good description for Adam. Oh yes, he is hot, spicy and oh so tasty. Adam stoops to some pretty sneaky tactics to get together with Rachel that, while is somewhat comical, I personally think is not a great way for a Dom to build trust in a possible sub. (Bad Dom!) As for Rachel, she had me giggling after her first dream of her mystery man. (R.I.P. Rabbit!). I found Rachel witty and funny, and watching her stumble around trying to figure out the whole BDSM world, that is when I just knew I was going to enjoy her story. However, it’s not like Rachel doesn’t already have issues of her own. And, when she finds out Adam’s last sub ex-wife who was also his slave…YIKES! That ought to be interesting to see how it plays out.  The sex between them will have you panting, but it’s their office and personal interactions that had me coming back for more. I really can’t wait to see how they work out the whole boss/Dom and PA/sub situation. I get the feeling there will be more heat and more giggles to come.

According to author Katy Swann, this is her first book. To Love and Submit was intended to be a novella but it ended up being a full-length novel which I for one am happy about. This book is classified as erotic romance, however, the author manages to present the story line (interlaced with steamy sex) without it having come out all smutty Hot and sexy yes, but smutty no which, I for one and thankful for. I see great things coming our way from Ms. Swann. Looking forward to the next title.
