Let me call it now…I love this series! Luca’s Magic Embrace is the second book and between the vampires, wolves, intrigue and romance, I can’t put this book or this series down. Ms. Grosso catches my eye with her covers, drawns me in with her blurbs and captivates me with her stories.
Another 4-star rating for Ms. Kym Grosso. Really what works for me despite this being a series, each book works well as a stand-alone. All the characters are whether they are the MC or secondary are covered so well in depth you can help but feel they are all MC. I think what made Luca and Samamtha’s story so special is he isn’t an Alpha or a Master. He’s not the boss and she’s not the head/lead/in charge female character. They are both secondaries made into primaries without losing their secondary statuses. I know that may not mean a lot to other readers, but to me it’s like the camera changed focus to two other people in the story without unrealistically bumping up their status.Really I like Luca and Samantha. I found them both to be very sweet characters. The only thing that drove me nuts about this whole book was while it starts with the characters from the previous book, about a quarter in POOF they disappeared. I would have preferred they at least carry through the whole book a bit more. Other than that, this was a fairly solid book.
The heat of Luca’s Magic Embrace comes in at a 3.5 but since we can’t do halves I’ll bump it up to 4-Flames. Not that this book isn’t any more sizzling hot the the first title, but because it has some extra’s that were not in Kade’s Dark Embrace. Mainly there’s a little bit of BDSM, some back door action. And oh yeah, there may be a bit of a threesome. I won’t go into details so I don’t slip up and add a spoiler but let’s just say at one point you do find a little M/F/M action.
Second book in I can safely call the Immortals of New Orleans series definitely a winner. I am loving this series and all it characters so much. Technically I should be reading Tristan’s Lyceum Wolves next but I read it several months ago. So now I have to choose between re-reading it or hopping to the fourth book. Decisions, Decisions. One thing I don’t have a problem with is recommending Luca’s Magic Embrace. So…read it!
