Review – Lure of Oblivion (The Mercury Pack #3) by Suzanne Wright

Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She’s going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female—and no amount of pressure from the boy’s wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.

As a guest at Gwen’s inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can’t help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she’s putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That’s not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they’re harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life.

Oh my goodness, this was so fun to read. As a PNR lover, this hit all of the feels and I’m crossing my fingers that there is more to come.

Gwen is a human who stumbles on a scene straight out of the movies, a male human beating a shifter. But unlike other humans, she can’t turn an eye to what she witnessed. Unfortunately for her, that sparks the never ending harassment from the aggressor, literally putting her life at risk. It’s a good thing the timing worked out in favor. Why? Because a couple of male wolf shifters happened to check in to her B&B and now offering to help her. Things could get really interesting…

Zander is one of the wolf shifters who checks in to the B&B. From the very moment he sees Gwen, his wolf is immediately wary and down right nervous around her. But why? It’s not until he gets to know her, offering to help her as a protector that reality slams him in his chest. But now what? First and foremost, he needs to protect Gwen. Then he can make sure his feelings are what he thinks they are.

FEELS!!! This was so awesome to read. Although Gwen was being harassed and “bullied”, she was far from being the damsel in distress. In fact, I think I might have a crush on her. She’s totally badass chick which is probably why Zander had such a hard time warming up to her at first. Well..that and the fact that they both have abandonment and trust issues. There are so many layers to this story, it was so nice to watch each one peel away, blossoming in to the HEA we all want in the end. But don’t get me wrong. There is plenty of action in this one. Both kind, if you know what I mean…LOL!
