Robyn knows the horrors that Mictlan can inflict first hand. She knows that for what remains of humanity to experience peace he must die. Robyn has been studying anything and everything that she believes might bring The Lord of the Dead down permanently. She believes that she has found the answers in ten runes. She has made it her personal mission to see this task completed.

Breanden quickly becomes her biggest obstacle. He is the one man who has ever been able to get close to her. Breanden has a gift. His gift was enhanced by The End of Days. He knows what people are feeling. It is not quiet mind reading but it allows him to get a good feel for the people around him. He knows that there is more to Robyn’s desert wanderings than she is sharing. His thoughts on her hiding something soon lead to him accompanying her on her mission.

I love my romance books and I love me some apocalyptic novels. A combination of the two is a total win win for the Diva. I know with romance that the main focus is with the couple. I’m not sure what happened here for me, but I felt something was missing. I’m wondering if the things I felt were missing about Mictlan and Robyn were answered in the previous two books in the series. I was nonetheless left wanting more about what was going on in this post apocalyptic world.

The reasons as to how the apocalypse happened are still unknown to me. The End of Days is somehow built around some of the Mayan Calendar lore. The End of Days brought total darkness, true demons, turned demons, and hellish nightmares to the humans. Many people perished immediately, many succumbed to The Lord of the Dead, few have stood up to fight the evil that is Mictlan. My love of apocalypse and romance will have me reading more of the books in A.S. Fenichel’s Mayan Destiny series!

For the most part I can say Mayan Inferno works just fine as a stand alone, but I have a feeling that any reader would get more enjoyment out of it having read the previous two books.
