Review: Mr. and Mr. Smith by HelenKay Dimon

Secrets and seduction make for an explosive combination in HelenKay Dimon’s edgy, thrilling new series, which kicks off with a novel about two men who can handle any threat—except the one posed by desire.

Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .

Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.

When I first saw this book title I was intrigued.  I am a fan of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.  I kept my fingers crossed to have the same type of story in Mr. and Mr. Smith. Thank God,   I was well served!  Mr. and Mr. Smith is a story packed with action with some hot intimate moments, I loved it!

Fisher and Zach seem to be an ordinary couple.  Fisher is working at the CIA but hid that fact to Zach.  He did so to keep him safe, at least that’s what he thought he did!  Until one day Zach is kidnapped and Fisher ran to save him.  You can imagine Fisher surprise when he realized that both of them are working at the CIA.  If you ever saw boiling water on a stove, you have a clear picture of how Fisher reacted at that very moment.

Fisher is a guy that is very private about his life.  When he was 16 and told his parents he was gay and his parents made him leave the house.  Since then, he had casual relationships and did not want anything serious.  Working at the CIA was the perfect job to be disconnected from his emotions.  He would not bring anyone into his dangerous mess, nor will he take the time to think about it. His work was his family until he met Zach.  When he Zach appeared in a bar, sparks flew right away. Shortly after meeting up, they ended up living together in secret.  For once in his life, he let his feelings out.  Only to discover that everything he is living with Zach was a lie.

Zach is working as an undercover agent and has been assigned to protect Fisher.  His parents had issues with alcohol and they died in a car crash. His father was driving and he was drunk.  Since that day, Zach always wanted to be an overachiever to make it up for his parent’s past mistakes.  He did not plan to fall in love with Fisher. However, Zach is emotionally driven. He decided to risk his very own life to have Fisher safe.  All of it for the sake of love.  Zach was completely heartbroken by Fisher reaction when he learned about his lies.  Zach wanted nothing more than to prove to Fisher that their love is real.  I really liked Zach character.  He is totally genuine even though he had to lie to Fisher.

Making a relationship working with two people that have a traditional job is quite a challenge. Imagine when both are working in the CIA that makes it really difficult.  Fisher lost his trust in Zach.  Can the relationship be fixed? Sometimes, all it takes is a do or die situation to open our eyes to love.  When it happens it can already be too late, though…

Mr. and Mr. Smith is a story that I really did enjoy and if you are looking for an entertaining and pack with action read into the CIA world, this book is for you!
