Review: Mr. Fix It by Emily Kale

Jenni’s home improvement plans have turned into a disaster. The only bright spot in her day is watching her handyman neighbor Rick as he helps out around the neighborhood. Jenni has need of his capable hands in more ways than one, but she refuses to become just another notch on his toolbox.

Rick is entranced by his standoffish neighbor. He has no time for the neighborhood women who throw themselves at him, but he intends to get into Jenni’s house, bed and heart if it’s the last thing he does.

Stars: three-stars

Jenni has had her eye on her next door neighbor, Rick, for months.  When he offers to help her with some home renovations she is leery of accepting his offer.  While she has been watching him he has been helping all the women in the neighborhood and she is afraid that he might only be after one thing.

As with most quickies there wasn’t a deep plot to this story but it was enjoyable all the same.  The characters were nicely developed and the writing was very nice.  I liked how they didn’t just jump straight into sex. They talked and got to know each other a bit before their relationship progressed. It was nice too how they have been neighbor’s so while they didn’t really know each other, they knew of each other so they weren’t exactly starting from scratch.

It was great to see a male lead that wanted a relationship and didn’t have any commitment issues or hang ups.  He was really the driving force of them getting together since Jenni is sure that he doesn’t want to be in a relationship.  Overall I enjoyed my first read by Cale and I would like to read more from her.
