Review: My Reckless Valentine (Lovestruck Librarians #2) by Olivia Dade

TEMPTATION FROM A TO Z

Library manager Angie Burrowes is in trouble again. Her superiors have never approved of her unconventional methods, but the latest warning is serious—another complaint from the administration or a patron, and she’s fired. With a steamy Valentine’s Day contest to conceal and her career on the line, the last thing Angie needs is a near-accident while driving home. At least, until she meets the tall, dark, and sexy stranger responsible for her very own spicy plot twist...

Straight-laced Grant Peterson has only one thing on his mind: making a good impression as the new Director of Branch Services at the Nice County Public Library. On the eve of his first day, however, a lusty encounter with Angie unleashes a desire unlike any he’s ever known. Their tryst may be one for the record books, but when he learns he’s Angie’s new boss, will Grant need to check out on love?

Geez! I really wanted to love this book as much as Broken Resolutions-book one of the Lovestuck Librarian series by Olivia Dade. Unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me. Maybe it was too long?? I am not sure but it seemed to drag for me. I liked Angie-even from book one! She loves her erotica and wants to share that love with the world. Being the manager of the local library, maybe is not the best choice to highlight her addiction. I loved her devil may care attitude that even when she was called out on the carpet, she wouldn’t hesitate to do it again!

Grant on the other hand, just seemed off to me and I had a hard time getting a handle on him. It’s almost like he was two different people-kind of like flipping a switch. I get that he is nerdy at times, but then totally act like a player the next. I felt he had no flow between the sides of his personality.

Angie and Grant have a passionate night together after they are involved in an accident. Soon they discover he is actually Angie’s new boss. They definitely are like oil and water in relation to running a library!

After the initial meeting, there was little that made me want to continue reading the story. Yes I wanted to find some things out, but the drive to get to the finish wasn’t there. It started out very promising, but fizzled just as quick. I liked that Grant was a nice guy-wanting to live close to his aging parents, but there was no draw to him for me. The extra star in the rating is because of Angie. I loved her free-spirit and even when she was being scolded or tamped-down for her exuberance, she bounds right back! I also enjoyed the catch-up with characters from book one! I like Olivia Dade’s writing style and hope she finds what she had in book one with her next books in the series.
